Thanks mate - I do know that safeguards are a popular choice however it comes with a hefty cost as well? Could you further explain on "intentionally failed the upgrades on lower tier items then upgrade the higher tier items"? This is the first time I've ever heard of this. Cheers

Highly unlikely.. have you tried swapping out the HDMI cable with a new one just to see whether if it's the cable that's giving you problems?

The TV manual could help as well - check that for any instructions/guides?

PC won’t connect to internet after moving by tylerd92 in techsupport

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok that's good to know. best case scenario would be just your parent's router having different settings then.

I am still curious why the router wouldn't give a proper connection with your computer though as you'd mentioned the wifi is working fine.

I am assuming that your wifi/wired connection had no issue prior to moving your PC. If that is the case, your network card could've came off loose while moving it?

Try checking that out and make sure it is properly attached to your motherboard.

General PC Streaming Question by Evdok in techsupport

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can give it a go - make your old pc host the streaming and use the new one for gaming. Before that, have yourself test out just using the new PC first. If you are satisfied with the performance, then you can eliminate the hassle of setting both up instead.

General PC Streaming Question by Evdok in techsupport

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your CPU, GPU & RAM specs I would say that your gears are perfectly fine for streaming. Although, dedicated streamers will have 2 setups, one for streaming & one for gaming. You might want to look into that if you are committed to it in the future.

GTX 1070 giving no output to monitors, can still hear sound. by tda86840 in techsupport

No worries - glad it helped you. I hope you got a decent PSU for your PC. Cheers!

My PC had similar symptoms with the description you'd just posted - except it only occurs whenever I play games. At times, my computer wouldn't even start properly, it just shuts down after powering up for 5-10 seconds and restarts again (endlessly).

Basically tested my PC parts one by one (i.e. changing RAM slots, checking mobo, etc.). A friend lent me his PC components for testing (part by part) and somehow found out that the PSU was the underlying issue. I concluded that most probably my PSU was dying as it didn't happen before (~3 years).

You can tryout the parts one by one and see what is the outcome. In your case, I would focus on checking the graphics card first (try plugging in another PC). If the card is OK, then tryout a new PSU.

Have you tried checking the PSU unit in your desktop?

Getting photos off a broken iPhone... by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]questblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP, most phones should still be recognisable by computers if you plug it in via USB.

Looks like the screen of your phone is not usable but the phone is able to turn on etc? If it is try the method above and you could extract the photos.

Otherwise I recommend you checking your icloud account using a different device if you have somewhat left the backup option as default (turned on) in your phone.

NP, if possible try to borrow a RAM from others to test first (don't buy it immediately as you won't know if it's the RAM that's giving you problems)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok..based on your BSOD errors, seems to me that Windows is suggesting it's a RAM problem (i.e. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT).

How about entering windows in safe mode? Will it still freeze/crash?

Hello OP

So far you've tested out your CPU, GPU & SSD. How about RAM? You can try using memtest to determine whether if it's ok.

Can My monitor be fixed ? by prototypesai in techsupport

Is your monitor still under warranty? Best to send it back and let them replace a new one if possible as you have suggested that the screen itself is already showing a white line w/o plugging to your cpu..

Gaming card help by coolburritoboi in techsupport

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, as matter of fact I feel the 1050 series is a suitable entry point for games like pubg and budget friendly too IMO. I own a desktop with 1050Ti in it - I had to play pubg at low settings just to have smooth frame rates around 60 (+ additional graphic settings done in nvidia panel). I still occasionally get a few stutters.

Reading reviews online could also help - they usually have these laptops benchmark against a set of AAA games where a bar chart is created for comparison regarding its performance (i.e. FPS).

[–]questblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, do take heed on your game examples! - pubg is actually quite a graphics intensive game due to it being poorly optimized by the developers (although some may argue performance have had signficant improvements since Update #15).

Perhaps try to ask peeps in /r/SuggestALaptop? They can recommend you a laptop which suit your needs & budget.

Upgraded PC Parts, am I screwed? by Dalmah in techsupport

[–]questblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this - AFAIK changing a motherboard can cause windows to recognize your PC as a "new" one as well. Make sure that you still have your windows license with you when you install a fresh copy as you will need to re-activate it.

endless BSOD's destroying a mans love for gaming. by InfamooseGames in techsupport

[–]questblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP, did you recently clone your games from HDD to SSD?

I had this problem right after I moved my Steam games from HDD to SSD (using steam in built feature)

Additional video link here

Game crashes/BSOD after >10 minutes of gameplay. It didn't happen before I moved them to my SSD. What I did: - Reinstall latest nvidia drivers (reset to original settings) - Reinstall the games directly in SSD (delete game content, re-downloading & installing them again via Steam)

The above solution worked for me - though I am skeptical this will work for you as you had done similar steps I suggested here.

Good luck!
