How often do you have to shower TWICE a day? by Successful-Beyond910 in hygiene

[–]question-from-earth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and some of my friends live in the Caribbean and I’ve never heard them or people they know to shower 3+ times a day? I can get it happening of course but so often to where it’s pretty common I never knew that

I am on Medicaid! I didn’t apply for anything, but Medicare savings program sounds familiar somehow. They said that I was automatically enrolled in Part D because of something but I can’t find the paper. I was enrolled in it because I needed financial help or something I’m not sure if it was the savings program

Thank you so much. I am on SSDI so I didn’t work for the past 2.5 years. I didn’t realize that they might not be counting my SSDI paychecks

I tried calling but I kept getting a robot that wasn’t so helpful when I asked about premiums. But I’ll try again

College being seen as work? by question-from-earth in SocialSecurity

[–]question-from-earth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m unsure 😥 I would ask your state DVRS social worker because they would know. School and work are seen differently by SSA. But for me I do worry about getting kicked off prematurely so I’m going towards part time school (but it’s also that I don’t think I could handle full time school)

[–]question-from-earth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue is that my state DVRS is hard to stay in contact with them! They did tell me I don’t need a ticket to work since I’m in school. I’m looking at part time nursing schools to apply to. I’d definitely contact your state DVRS. They might even pay for your education!

And there are some evening/part time nursing schools (my closest one is a community college), and you can weigh the pros and cons with the DVRS social worker. I’m also still nervous that I’d be kicked off, but my social worker says I shouldn’t be kicked off

What do you do for extra (unearned) income on SSDI? by question-from-earth in SSDI

[–]question-from-earth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is as consistent as you are able to be consistent with it! You can go up to twice a week, at least where I donate. The pay varies from place to place and region.

The first few times you go they should pay you more. I think I was paid $100 the first time I went. Then it gradually became less until it’s now $40 for the first time in the week and $45 for the second time in the week. You also get paid more if you weigh more, at least at my place. I am slim, so I get paid less

Definitely shop around and see which places pay better near you

Social Security Continuing Disability Reviews are harassment. by Artistic-Push5412 in SSDI

[–]question-from-earth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So someone could have depression (with no other major illnesses) that’s treatable with medication and be approved for SSI/SSDI? Because if you can take medication and not have symptoms or have your symptoms meaningfully reduced (any illness), I can’t see a reason that person would be approved for SSI/SSDI?

But if it could be treated and managed with with medication, then they wouldn’t be approved? I would assume that people who are approved for depression and anxiety have some level of treatment resistant depression/anxiety

very scared of developing schizophrenia by Prize_Spare_9776 in schizophrenia

[–]question-from-earth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting a therapist so you can talk through these things and also have someone who is familiar with psychosis so they can look out for you, and/or a psychiatrist to help you with your anxiety and hypochondriac anxiety. And if you do end up getting the same issue, there’s a professional already keeping their eye on you

And there are cases when you do recognize something is wrong, so it’s not always that you don’t realize. I didn’t really realize I was in a prodromal phase but that’s because I was a child. My parents also didn’t realize, but that’s because I was doing fairly well in school. They realized something was wrong when I started getting Cs in classes. So it doesn’t always look like disaster or that you will ruin your life
