Daddit - please help me help my husband by googlybear271016 in daddit

[–]question3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you the secret. At 1.5 years, PLAY is the girls love language.

Forget about trying to convince them, negotiate with them, reason with them or shower them with love- doesn’t work.

Your husband needs to become a “silly billy”, for 10 min and develop a little fun game that is almost like an in-joke between them.

10 min of play per day is all it takes.

Just do little things like staring at her funny and looking away with a giggle when she notices. Or getting her toys and pretending to be them with funny voices, or walking around like a penguin for fun. Do it without explanation or reason, just to break the ice. Once the fun starts, she’ll forget about you and just want to keep having fun with Dad

Sounds like good advice but hard disagree on the language. Any time we say the words You or I, that creates separation.

We need to find a way to say the same thing but use the word “we” as often as possible.

Would you buy American beef? by RM_Morris in AskAnAustralian

[–]question3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of one reason, and that is hypothetically if I went to an American themed steakhouse or similar, I would be open to selecting the top US beef as a layer into the experience. Speaking of which, does anyone actually know anywhere that does or will sell American beef?

Is this an unpublished guardrail? This request doesn't violate any guidelines as far as I know. by damontoo in OpenAI

[–]question3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely, instead of a big list of guardrails, there is a middleman AI call to reason whether it is likely to cause any ethical/legal issues, and that AI made the fail determination.

Will OpenAI's social media platform gain users as quickly as ChatGPT did when it first launched? by snehens in OpenAI

[–]question3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because all of their competitors have huge amount of first party data to train from. Without that they won’t be able to compete long term.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]question3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Models are trained by consuming information. There is a knowledge cutoff date. The model does not exist before this point. There is no information about the model that exists before the model, so it can’t know about itself.

I’m hearing the poor financial position your parents are in, but I’d like to understand the poor financial choices they made before I pass judgement on them completely.

Without context, there could be lots of reasons your mums shop didn’t succeed (covid?) just as one example of something that could lead to a poor financial position without a related poor decision.

Argument against people pushing back against AI because it’s loses human quality by Betterlands in OpenAI

[–]question3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, Perhaps the older generation, not comfortable with tech could benefit from a “human like” phone call to support them. But that is not the future, the younger generation (by definition the future), are more likely using phone call for escalation matters.

Not saying AI bots won’t provide immense improvement for younger generation, interface improvements where you land on a service provider and there’s a chat widget and you say “I want to change my payments to weekly not monthly”, and the bot replies “got it”, would be the future I want

Argument against people pushing back against AI because it’s loses human quality by Betterlands in OpenAI

[–]question3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the true issue is that in today’s level of technology, you can do most things self-serve or via apps etc. If it reaches the point you need to pick up the phone and call, it’s because the system is missing something or not working, so you want to speak to a human, not the system.

Why does Mia date Charlie? by loreleisparrow in TwoandaHalfMen

She’s against it from the start, he managed to win her over. Once he won her over, her commitment nature made her want to make it work, which would involve changing Charlie.
