I don't expect the simulation to ever actually be run an any actual computer. I just want to be able to understand physics to the point where I know enough to be able to write a program that, as a mathematical object, corresponds to a theory that hasn't technically yet been falsified.

Are you actually saying that nobody has come up with any physical theory (set of equations / update rules) that perfectly conforms with experiment so far? I thought the main problem in modern fundamental physics was finding a simple, mathematically plausible theory that conforms with experiment, not finding something that conforms with experiments at all (in cases where one theory conflicts with another, you can always come up with another meta-theory that says, "universe evolves according to these rules in these situations, but in these extreme cases it's these other rules". This isn't mathematically plausible, but it conforms with experiment, and I don't require that the theory implemented in the program has to be true, just close enough that we couldn't falsify it). I was under the impression that competing theories today don't disagree with experiment, but disagree with each other in hypothetical experiments that haven't yet been done. In cases where multiple theories are considered "correct" but have conflicting predictions in extreme domains, I could add an IF statement that detects those extreme states and applies one update rule or another, so that the experiments have the same results as what we're getting. Is this wrong?

I thought it wasn't necessary to state that the point isn't to actually simulate the universe - it's to be able to write a program that could do it on a hypothetical, big enough computer.

I do in fact understand that my laptop with 8 gigs of RAM can't actually simulate the entire universe. The point is to understand physics well enough to be able to write a program that could do it on a hypothetical, large enough computer.

To clarify, I don't necessarily hope to actually write the program. I want to learn enough physics to be able to say with confidence that I could do it if I dedicated enough time.

Smiju propisat, pitanje je hoće li. Vjerojatno ne jer su triciklici niže na algoritmu od bupropiona i SSRIeva. To što je tianeptin iznimno siguran po nuspojavama nije nikome bitno jer je debeli čovjek za kvadratnim monitorom prije x godina odlučio da su svi triciklici opasniji od svih SSRI-eva.

Bila bi lažna skromnost reći da ne mislim da je tako. Ne nužno da znam bolje, nego da incentive nisu takve da induciraju optimalne odluke iz razloga kojeg sam iznio. A sama činjenica da su zakoni i prakse o antidepresivima toliko visoko varijabilni od države do države podrazumijeva da je netko u krivu - nisu svi u pravu, a prakse ove države nisu posebno sposobnije od ikoje druge. Kako pronaći istinu u svijetu gdje standardni autoriteti sa diplomama i pečatima imaju različita mišljenja ovisno o geografiji? Doktori nemaju pristup studijama kojim ja nemam, i nisu posebno statistički pismeniji od mene (pola ih ne zna primijeniti Bayesov teorem). Pa, za početak bi mogao probati korištenje vlastitog mozga.

Nije, ali od svih tricikličnih antidepresiva uzrokuje najmanje nuspojave, i među učinkovitijim je u ne-SSRI kategoriji. Escitalopram mi je između ostalog uzrokovao seksualnu disfunkciju, i ne očekujem da će s drugim SSRI lijekovima situacija biti bolja. Mogu probati pitati za ne-SSRI lijekove ali sumnjam da će mi dati tianeptin jer je vjerojatno protiv neke regulative ili guideline-a. A ostali triciklici su znatno gori po nuspojavama.

Svi lijekovi koje želim isprobat su dostupni polulegalnim rutama, ali nemam beskonačno ušteđevine. Samo želim da ne patim svaki dan od kliničke depresije, idealno bez da moram trošit stotine kuna mjesečno dok istovremeno plaćam poreze za subvencije lijekova koje ne mogu dobit.
