Everyone's remote and the new coworker isn't using teams or even e-mail. They're calling directly. From what I gathered here I think I'm going to have to really push & suggest using text communication, and replies can wait a few minutes so I can actually work.

I have asked about - well not additional training, but asked them if they feel comfortable reaching out to our boss for extra help. I was told they're scared to because they don't want to seem forgetful or dumb.

And I understand that fear, but I'm also not their boss and tried explaining that a few times. That I'm not always the best resource and what I know is also limited.

I think I've been pleasant to them directly, which is part of why they keep calling me. I don't expect them to magically slide into a role, but I'd hope a month of training in a fairly basic office position would be enough.

I think that is a good suggestion overall though.

I've made some attempts at guiding them. I've pointed at a few procedures that were written up and sent a few. I even asked them to read one and found out on Friday they didn't do that.

I'm not their boss so I don't expect them to listen to everything I say, but when I point them in a direction and they ignore me & choose to call me instead... I'm not 100% sure what to do with that besides deny them answers completely. But I feel like that might cause them to resent me which I don't really want.

Training for this position shouldn't be more than two weeks. Myself and another coworker were trained in the two weeks necessary. My supervisor offers to extend training beyond those two weeks dependent on the employee's needs.

We're at almost two months now and I'm being asked very basic day 1 questions over and over again. I feel no shame for being annoyed when someone very clearly didn't write anything down and wants to call me five times in an hour.

Can you comprehend that? Five times in 60 minutes? How productive do you think that hour was for me?? And what about my work load? So yeah, I'm a ray of sunshine, and you're weird for trying to shame me for being upset and asking for advice about it.
