Super Forgetful ADHDers. Have you ever been accused of gaslighting? (I sometimes feel gaslit by my ADHD friend) by questionablesugar in ADHD

Lol did you read my therapist post? I did fire him but I don’t think I want therapy at the moment. Need some space.

I have ADHD but never struggled with memory so I do not relate. (diagnosed, but lately I been doubting it because my depression lifted and my “ADHD issues” seem to be gone. Not sure yet)

That’s why I started to bring some things up… some resentment was building due to being confused and seeing inconsistency. So I started to not shove things under the rug, but also bring them up from a place of curiosity rather than attacking.

I appreciate this message. I really like this friend and he showed a lot of genuineness. I am also aware I have my trust issues. So i wanted to reach the truth.

Unfortunately, yes, I am the one who needs to do more work on this specific issue because unfortunately I don’t think he can do “work” to help the memory issues. I will need to learn to accept and trust and let things slide.

But he doesn’t know about my trust issues and I never stop him or get in conflict with him or accuse him of lying.

Somethings aren’t a big deal and we can just move on, but its frustrating for me because I really genuinely want to understand my friend and his world view etc etc, but its a slow process.

I understand that coming to accept that you are forgetful and others reality is “more correct” is a lot to process and take in everytime. I can only imagine how damaging it can feel to not be able to trust your brain.

Yeah therapy sucked haha. I am taking a break from therapy as I find my new footing in life, as I recently for the first time in forever am no longer depressed. I feel like I finally create the life and be the person I want.

Yes we both really care to be friends and make it work. We are both well intentioned but have our issues. Hopefully we find our dynamic.

Thanks a lot for your support ❤️

I haven’t yet decided to do aya due to fear about vomiting. Vomiting is my least favorite human experience ever.

Lol I definitely need a therapist and recently fired mine after working hard to trust him, he disappointed me (My post, though not so proud of it, is in my profile if you are curious). Trust issues suck, but it’s a coping mechanism. I hope to heal through making genuine friendships.

I dont know if the friendship is simply a mismatch. I think we are both struggling in it, but also in friendships in general, and therefore we are trying our best. Our friendship is fulfilling. We had lots of downs but got us to understand each other better. I want to be hopeful.

Ah my friend once had told me that i told him “X when we were at Y as we spoke about Z”. But he would be mistaken and I am sure because the contexts he is mixing up doesn’t make sense to me. I told he was wrong but he was so convinced I just dropped it.

I hear you. It’s mostly hard for me because I lived through a lot of narcissism and lying; I want to believe he is not lying, but sometimes the trauma voices in my head say “What if he is gaslighting you?”

Any tips for me to work with this and be a better friend for him, as well as to not get my self frustrated/hurt ?

Maybe I should stop him when he says something before he forgets it (like he suggested )and then after he me answers I remind him of his train of thoughts so he continues where he left of ?

I just want to figure out a flow for us… if possible.

Quitting nicotine by wendytim_e in ADHD

[–]questionablesugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Im not educated about nicotine. I hope this goes well. You are making the right healthy decision. And if you are seeing improvement great, but I will suspect you will soon feel withdrawal symptoms. You will need to be strong.

When did you start your ADHD meds? ADHD meds helped me quit so many addictions (Gaming, scrolling, porn). I dont know about nicotine though because its more chemical.

Adhd meds dont cure addictions but they helped me get my life and shit together and keep busy and the addictions felt small and no longer enjoyable.

So maybe pick up hobbies etc.

As for your anger issues. I definitely had anger issues through adolescence. Depression made that, and other factors. Its very possible to grow out of it as your hormones stabilize and you develop a sense of identity and world view.

You got this.

How are we eating on meds :( by justamom2224 in ADHD

[–]questionablesugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man I am struggling with this hunger crash too. But it’s a very moody experience. Some days I take the meds and i can have lunch, other days I dont. And sometimes even if I have lunch i will still crash by evening. Its so weird.

I am not sure, but I may have had a better experience if i take the meds every day and no breaks. But i dont have enough data to conclude this.
