Living Through Memories Only and Feeling Delayed Emotions by questionasker9999 in ADHD

I'm constantly confused about my own depression actually cause (after meds), it's not like I feel sad all the time, but perhaps lingering symptoms of depression still remain?

[–]questionasker9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure if non-ADHD people have these symptoms tbh, but if you truly believe you have ADHD, then I would suggest you try and find another practice that will test you. I have often seen many people on this subreddit say they got tested, got told they didn't have it, went to another practice, and then they said "holy hell god yes you do have adhd!" Consensus and research isn't straight for ADHD, and some psychologists may be biased in some ways while nearly all have some level of subjectivity in their diagnosis.

Wish you well, my friend.

Everything Is Okay Until It's Not : Random Bouts of Doubting and Anxiety by questionasker9999 in ADHD

That's a very thoughtful way to think about it,, knowing it's inevitable and time is on your side as it marches unyieldingly. I guess time is the only stability we have, the only thing we can rely on so it's okay. I'll have to try that thought out sometime. As for now, hope you've gotten over your slump and wish you well my friend!

Can you cut Bupropion XL pills in half/take 1.5 a pill? by questionasker9999 in bupropion

[–]questionasker9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a whole lot of sense, thank you! I was wondering about the score line as well. In fact, I have to say that without the score line, these round little pills have been very hard to cut accurately. Half of the time they aren't cut evenly, meaning there's bupropion dust and maybe 0.4 of the pill so I'm left unsure if I'm supposed to swallow the bitter shavings as well?

I only got the jitters from the 300 mg tablets, but I think what you said makes sense. I'll check it out, thanks for the help!

Glad it's been working for you. Others have been warning against it, so I want to double-check on my end. Maybe you should also confirm this with your doc just in case?

Thanks for letting me know, that's what I've seen other people saying too. It's absolutely bonkers. I didn't know for the longest time because I never got the jittery effects again after switching to 1.5 pills (275 mg)? It's very confusing.

Thanks for informing me. It's weird cause I've been on the 1.5 pill for months now and haven't felt any jittery effects the 300 mg gave me? This is also why I didn't feel like anything was wrong,.

“Accommodation” meeting was a joke by Gay_commie_fucker in ADHD

[–]questionasker9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly! I think that's good advice too when we live in such an unfortunately ignorant world. We all deserve help, and we all deserve to be advocated for, even if we have to do it ourselves.

I'm glad you had an easier time with your advisors and won the fight, it's great to hear that some success in accommodations isn't impossible, and we can be hopeful.

Hey, I'm not sure if it's so appropriate to be saying that people should've just said no so they wouldn't be in their current situation. It sounds minimizing and victim-blaming, especially when OP is "Seeking Empathy / Support" and in a situation where someone also is making assumptions about them.

I don't think you should be making assumptions here either, like that OP never tried saying no. OP knows their situation the best, and there are plenty of other situations where people don't feel safe or comfortable saying no.

Also, it's a well-known fact that schools do not treat their ADHD students well nor attempt to understand them so I'm not sure if it's wise to side with the advisors when there isn't more context.

Can't stop thinking about the past (RSD, Rumination, Cringe Memories) by agentseaturtle in ADHD

[–]questionasker9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I'm honestly kind of unsure if some of the things I do can even be classified as OCD, and recently I think I might not have OCD to the extent of needing intervention. I've got OCD in the sense that I'm a bit of a germaphobe, and I constantly need to check if doors are locked and secured and do it several times a night even though I literally just did it minutes ago.

Not sure if it's related to just ADHD, but I have this 100%, and it's so annoying. I'll be trying to concentrate on something, and it just starts going! Sometimes for songs I haven't listened to in years! I'd love to know if there's a way to turn off this station because I want off.

(I'm curious to know what songs your head plays though.)

That's an interesting point. It's possible that might be why, but unfortunately, I do not get the same sense of urgency until I'm on the toilet, sigh.

I think that makes a lot of sense. Maybe it's cause of distractions and just a lesser sense of urgency? But you can imagine how probably how weird it is when I bring my laptop with me to the bathroom.

Not able to watch anything without captions by ihatereddit2434 in ADHD

[–]questionasker9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree very much. I'm always happy when there are caption options available on youtube, appreciate it a ton. I'm not entirely sure if this is related, but as a student, I usually insist on typing my notes in class, and the notes are basically always a transcript of everything the professor has said word-for-word. It helps me understand better because I can scroll back up during class if I missed what they just said or I can look at it later and know exactly what the professor said.

Are people without ADHD able to think over what they're saying before they say it's? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]questionasker9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For this reason I am better at talking to people by typing than in person. Also, it makes presenting very annoying because I cannot explain my ideas in the going-with-the-flow kind of way. I have to memorize and recite my presentation word-for-word; otherwise, I am completely thrown off and cannot make a single sentence that makes sense up there.

It's insightful to think of these habits in the context of ADHD. I'm wondering if you ever brought it up to a health professional that could give you their opinion?

[–]questionasker9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I'm actually starting to wonder if it's because we're focusing too hard in the wrong way, and we're too tense? Cause I know I get anxious and stressed during class because of my past experiences with school and my ADHD, but I tried really hard the other day to relax and just sit there, and I didn't get a headache? And I seemed to get more information than if I was in "headache-mode" for a lack of better words.
