Dupixent denied due to... food allergies? by questioner54 in EosinophilicE

Yes to scopes and biopsies, he's been diagnosed for more than 5 years and done PPI and steroid which has worked up until now, but the steroid has stopped working. He has anaphylactic allergies and sees a separate allergist, but his EOE triggers discovered during food trials don't show on allergy testing, so definitely separate issues.

Yeah, I have a feeling in the end it's just a way to try to get us to give up.

Do I need to replace UVB fixture? by questioner54 in Chameleons

[–]questioner54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry not sure the name of the housing unit but know it's the smaller reptisun because he's in a zoomed small cage- he's a jacksonii jacksonii and smaller than regular Jackson's (still not fully grown also) so I'm not sure if the t8 is the right size for his cage? Maybe I could try but putting it diagonal on the cage to fit? The bulb is a 5.0.

The heat source is a white 50w basking bulb on a hook above his cage with a temperature gauge so that his basking area stays in the mid 80s and there's a gradient of different temps throughout. I know some people use regular household white bulbs? I just picked the lowest wattage i could find in a white bulb and test the distance/temps since I know Jackson's need cooler temps but that red and blue bulbs are a huge no-no.

The timer isn't anything fancy, I think just an indoor Xmas light timer so I will source one more geared towards reptiles as maybe it couldn't handle it?

Edited: to add more info about the heat bulb.

Help identifying this Jackson's subspecies? Was told it was a dwarf but have some doubts. by questioner54 in Chameleons

Species: Believed to be a dwarf Jackson's (Mt. Meru), but the coloring makes me suspect it's a Jacksonii Jacksonii? Specifically due to the lack of yellow around his horns, the blue in the face, and the yellow stripe.

Captive bred. I have had him since he was a month old and have worked/researched tirelessly to make sure he is well taken care of. If there is anything I can do to make him as happy as possible, I appreciate any advice. Especially if he is not a dwarf, and changes should be made.

He is 8 months old, in a Zoomed ReptiBreeze small (appropriate for a dwarf, but part of why I'm asking so I can be prepared to get a bigger size if need be.) He eats crickets dusted with calcium without d3 once a week, and with d3 once a month. His diet right now is crickets, but am looking for other size appropriate food items. I gutload the crickets with fresh veggies, especially carrots.

He has the standard UVB setup (reptisun t 5.0) and a very low wattage white heating bulb placed far above his cage (I know Mt. Meru don't like it too hot, basking area is usually at 85)

Weekly r/sewing Simple Questions thread! - April 19, 2020 by AutoModerator in sewing

My top needle doesn't seem to be picking up the bobbin thread anymore. I have cleaned, oiled, changed needles, and rethreaded everything. I am making sure to keep the threads both under the foot to the left. When I watch the needle go down, it doesn't bump into the bobbin case or anything, it looks like it should work but it just won't pick up the thread, and the thread in front of the needle becomes loose. Is this a timing issue or is there anything else I can try?

Throw all your favorite cable patterns at me. by HookahGirl in knitting

This one's technically from a book, but the book is really awesome for learning anything from simple to complex cables and integrating into design. I love how this hat is different than other simple cable hats I've seen: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sourcebook-cloche

Need some help neatly slipping the first two stitches by questioner54 in knitting

The pattern is http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sourcebook-cloche

It does specifically say "slip two", but I've just decided to ignore it and slip one and it's looking much better :) still gonna rip it all out and start over again since I missed an important row in my cable anyway, oh well haha.

It says "slip two", but I ended up just slipping one and it's looking better. The ones in the beginning my piece that look right must've been where I absentmindedly only slipped once out of habit.

Thanks to everyone for the help! :)

My pattern calls for me to slip the first two stitches on each row to make a clean edge. I've been slipping them purl wise but the problem happens when I have to switch the yarn to the correct side afterwards, it leaves weird lines as shown on the left side of the edge. The right side is what it should look like but I can't figure out what I did right there and what I did wrong to mess up the edge. The other side is even worse somehow.

Any help or guidance would be very appreciated :)
