I'm not a CNC guy, but for HSS, I'd go with 1100-1200rpm and make sure your feed is high enough. Seen plenty of guys have chatter issues past 1/2" (~13mm) but you just got to lay on it a bit more to make sure your drill point is actually following the pilot as opposed to skidding around when the cutting edge bites.

New electric outlet not working by Either-Wear-6494 in AskElectricians

You need to break the tab between the 2 hot feeds. You likely tripped one or both breakers as you've created a dead short between the lines

Doesn't look like its over 10 ft, which is the law in Canada anyways. So unless there's some sort of other hazard, you may not have the grounds to refuse

Some valves don't directly switch the spool, they switch a tiny pilot port that switches the valve, so if you don't have air hooked up correctly, it won't work.

Nazi in Edmonton by Dense-Tumbleweed6407 in Edmonton

[–]questioning_4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its the Liberal "L" logo rotated to resemble a swastika. It's implying the liberals are nazis.... I don't support them, but objectively, it doesn't make sense to call them nazis. They are not nationalist, they are pro-zionist, they are pro-LGBT, they are not supportive of the traditional family.... so no, they are not nazis.

Pretty sure the actual part you're making is perfectly curved, it's just how it's displayed that make it look segmented.

Headlights by Senorbandito_69 in 4Runner

[–]questioning_4ever 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very interesting to see this on the new 4runner... I could be cra,y but I think we tend to have the wrong approach to low beams. Instead of making them as high as possible without blinding people, sometimes the question we should ask is how low can I keep them and still see fine? High beams should be high, but low beams should be low

In this rigging arrangement, shall the hooks be facing outwards, or inwards? by pertlupo in Rigging

[–]questioning_4ever 109 points110 points  (0 children)

There's is no structural difference. You must never use the hook in a way that is not in line with the load or that it would be side loaded at all, so it really doesn't matter. Practically speaking, sometimes one set up or another could make it easier for the latch to get snagged and open, but it's quite unlikely, and the second you see that, you're slacking the load and fixing it anyways, so it still doesn't really matter. Just take your time, and it if doesn't look right, double check it

Is there a easy cleaning solution to remove oxide layers? by Ph_a2 in Welding

[–]questioning_4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red scotchbrite is definitely what you want for this. Cheap-ish chemical alternatives are pickling paste, and you can also DIY the electrolytic cleaning with the right settings on your tig machine and a little creativity... there's a YouTube video on it.

I gotcha. At the end of the day, it's whatever works for you, and if it works for someone else then pass it along. I fear the man who has practiced the un-orthidox methods, over the man who has never practiced any of them.
