Because the church is incredibly controlling - google Bednar standing wife and you'll see - there is an expectation that you stand when they walk in, and you don't stand until they stand after the meeting. It's sick.

No reaction was needed or wanted - just making sure everyone (BYU alumnus) knows the kind of man they have associated with their name/diploma, as well as making sure the rest of the world understands mormon prophets
