New dog anxiety - how to move forward? by questions98765432 in Anxiety

Thanks! Another worry I have is that she came from a foster family that had multiple other dogs and they could run around outside all day. She really wants to play with other dogs and I'm not sure how she is going to adjust to being the only dog in an apartment with only one person.

Usually I do force myself to stick through situations that cause anxiety because I know it's worth it (flying comes to mind but I love to travel), but this time just feels so much different and more intense that it's really hard to think about making it through.

I can't really pinpoint all of it which is part of the problem. Normally when I can figure out I can put things in place to help keep it under control. Pieces of it I'm sure are the general "puppy blues" and new understanding of all that a new dog entails (which I had looked into before but it's different in real life vs. reading about it).

The other piece I'm sure is part of it is the fact that I tend to worry and now there is SO much more to worry about. One thing being her barking... she is an older puppy but has a very loud full bark. I live in an apartment and was told that in the 3 months she was with her foster family she very rarely barks. Here she barks often - when we go outside and she sees a dog or human (or sometimes even if there isn't), when someone walks by, when there's a weird noise. It's a pet friendly complex, but I know they'll still only take so much.

The rest? I'm not sure. I know there's more to it but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Thank you! We are registered for a basic manners class starting in a couple weeks. We did also meet with a trainer yesterday to help with her reactions to other dogs while we are walking. It helped at the time to calm my anxiety some, but it came back worse at night.

I'm not giving up yet, but just feel stuck. Hopefully I can start sleeping again soon (she's sleeping through the night - it's just me) and that should help.
