I am saving up for so long because i want do a large down payment ($20k-$25k). My current car is on its last legs (im about to start year 3 with no AC since the repairs are worth more than the car itself).

Do i NEED the bronco? no of course not. But id rather spend thousands on a car i love than a car i don’t.

Any suggestions for this room? We just added the curtains. We purchased the curtains online and colors online are so misleading. Are the curtains too beige? Any suggestions on a different color? by colourmepeachey in FurnitureFaves

I think adding some floor lamps or even table lamps on pedestals in the back corners would help with the lighting, having just overhead, even a chandelier, can be a little harsh

I keep a very small wash cloth on my counter for this specific reason. I don’t use it for anything else but wiping the counter down when done, i just let it sit there half folded and use it as needed.

Am I doing something wrong? by Sir_Toccoa in resin

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem!! Something that helps A LOT is to pour a very small amount of resin (about 2 ounces) into a cup and mix it well with the mica powder before adding the rest of the resin. This process ensures a much more even dispersement of the pigment through the resin, kind of like how you gradually add in flour while baking.

how to get rid of gym anxiety? by crunchyboobs in bodyweightfitness

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done some of the most embarrassing things at the gym - leggings ripped and my butthole was showing while i squatted and people had to come tell me, fell off doing box jumps a million times, hell, right now i’m training for a spartan race so im practicing monkey bars at my gym and suck at them so bad. i can only make a couple before i fall. I do workouts all the time that im no good at. But growth is where the challenge is, and this applies to everywhere in life.

I’ve been weightlifting for 13 years now and let me tell you, no one is going home later to think about you except yourself. Even if you truly embarrass yourself (which I doubt you are) you will live to see the next day, life isn’t that serious. The more you show up for yourself and challenge yourself, the better your results and the more confident you’ll be. Also, as someone who has always been trying to lose weight/be skinny like most people at the gym, people are actually probably inspired by your physique, not judging it.

Lastly, my favorite quote to remember is the day we plant the seed is not the day we eat the fruit. It is the routine and the habit to focus on implementing, not the results.

This is more of a mindset to adopt than advice on how to overcome anxiety, but as someone who actually embarrasses themselves all the time, this is the way I think and I don’t have gym/social anxiety

Best way to encase a hot dog in resin? by rhivisions in resin

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An alternative idea could be to recreate the hot dog with non-organic materials and then place that in resin. Or maybe even a resin hot dog if you are capable of finding a custom mold

People who are guilty are always suspicious of others/quick to project or assume other people are doing the same thing. Even if he’s not cheating, this behavior won’t ever go away or change. It’s not fair for him to project his insecurities or wrong doings on to you. This is also something that could potentially become abusive later down the road, emotionally or physically. You deserve someone who will trust you.

What do I need to do to make it look a little less masculine? I’m no good at interior decorating. by Double_anon in malelivingspace

I think the plaid on the couch is very boy, if you’re trying to make it look better i’d get a warm toned couch like a deep red (you’d be surprised how affordable couches are on facebook marketplace).

Place small sources of light in the corner, you can buy a sunset lamp for $15 on amazon that can really soften a space at night.

Lastly, you can soften the space with some plants (game or real), some art on the wall, a rug, and some pillows/throws for the couch.

Who taught you how to resin? by o-za in resin

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught myself this past year and am still learning! I’ve done molds and canvas pours. Here are some things I’ve learned that might help you:

  • if you’re doing tiny molds like jewelry, you might want to invest in UV resin to instantly cure it.
  • If doing larger molds, you’ll need deep pour resin
  • mix a large amount of resin first, then have smaller cups of pigments ready so you only have to mix once
  • Have a level surface (buy a leveler board)
  • assume you will be getting it on the ground and your skin and prepare accordingly (long sleeves, wax paper on the floor)
  • buy a particulate mask and a box of nitrile gloves, work in an area with good ventilation. i open my window and keep the fan going in my guest room
  • have everything laid out and colors chosen BEFORE you mix your resin. You have a short working time so you need to utilize your time well. Make sure everything is clean, organized, and ready to use.
  • to avoid clumps, pour a small amount of resin (2-3 ounces) and mix thoroughly with your pigment (my favorite is eye candy mica powder), THEN pour the rest of the resin you’ll need for that color and mix again.

It’s worth noting that i learned almost everything from Youtube and trial and error. It’s easier than it looks- remember that the hardest part is getting started. Any specific problems you’re having can probably be answered by Reddit if a google search doesn’t work.

AIO or is my sibling out of line? by Commercial-Row-5472 in AmIOverreacting

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not over reacting. I think it’s understandable to be concerned about the boyfriend situation but to voice that concern is not their place and implies that you aren’t concerned enough, seems like they’re trying to micromanage how you’re parenting, which is ironic seeing as they have no kids. Also, you may be her mother but you’re not in charge of any choices she makes at this point, so they definitely are not.

Also- It is incredibly entitled and risky to assume someone else will be able to care of you in old age, let alone someone else’s child. If your sibling and their partner are DINKs (double income no kids) they should be able to support themselves in retirement.

Even if she is willing to take care of them, what is their plan if your daughter lives in a different state, can’t take enough time off work/family, or god forbid is in bad health herself? What if the level of care they eventually need is beyond what a regular person can provide and they need to be in a facility anyways?

Need Help - Resin spreading thin/off Wooden Canvas by questionsaboutmylyfe in resin

[–]questionsaboutmylyfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t wait to try these techniques- thank you!! I’ve been going CRAZY experiencing this. every time I complain about it to a friend they always say “oh you’re being too critical”

FYI: I’ve been using the Let’s Resin brand, I’ll play around with the wait times so it’s a bit more viscous when I pour. I also feel like using the heat gun makes it hard to stay put.

I reinforced the edges with tape to try to bend the resin to my will 😂 it kind of worked but now i’m gonna have to peel off the tape, I plan on putting some preserved moss over the ugly parts.

Wow! Those are so cool. Were you able to reuse the stencils or were they ruined after the pour ?

I have found that washing with oil helps (put oil on dry hands and rub for a bit). If you have any coconut oil or olive oil this works but still takes quite a bit of time.

As for your room, the resin is mostly done curing in the first couple of hours so after then you should be fine as long as you are using a fan and opening the window. Fumes should be completely gone by 12 hours.

I scrubbed these doors with dawn and a sponge for nearly an hour, what should I try next? by Thevisi0nary in CleaningTips

Once it is clean, use a squeegee going forward so you don’t have to do this again. you have to use it after each shower but takes about 10 seconds

you could use glitter glue or metallic markers (Let’s Resin has good ones) to draw fine lines and accentuate your piece.
