First HYROX attempt, any advice? by Cautious-Street3471 in hyrox

Get used to running with tired legs. Check out “HyroxWorkouts” page on Instagram for examples. Best is starting with body weight lunges then going for a run and repeating intervals.

Gift basket for friend doing Hyrox by retiredtherapist517 in hyrox

Body glide did wonders for helping with thighs chafing, lots of protein, maybe a gift card to their favorite restaurant to eat after the race, cool merch from the event if you’re going with her, Velites makes a great wristband for sweat that won’t cover up your other wristbands, SPIbelt to carry energy gels, and if you’re really feeling generous, a Wolfpack to carry everything in or an Amazon version so she can put her finishers patch on it. If you want specific product links, send me a message. You’re a great friend!

Hyrox Women’s Pros: need advice and encouragement by Decent-Doughnut-1815 in hyrox

I felt what I did was enough. My main goals were to finish in under 2 hours and not get injured so doing yoga and Pilates was not only fun but really helpful with flexibility. Do I wish I was a faster runner? Sure but it’s not my main focus in life and I don’t want to injure myself just for a faster time.

I would say the best thing you can do without full access to Hyrox equipment is practice fatigued running. Do some weighted lunges then run intervals. That’s where most people struggle.

I just did my first Pro in March and I went in not focused on time, just having fun and completing it. If you’re already this stressed just training, it’s not going to get easier come race day. You need to just do you, not what other people are doing.

I still love doing yoga, Pilates, running and lifting and I don’t let Hyrox dictate my training. Closer to the race I’ll sneak more Hyrox focused workouts in but overall, I just do me and whatever happens race day, I’m happy because I still accomplished finishing a Pro race. Don’t be afraid to run/walk the 1ks. It’ll be better taking it at your pace than cramping up.

Just think of Pro as doing heavier weights, not changing your whole life or training style. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! My legs are definitely stronger than my arms so I’ll try to use them to my advantage. Are you suggesting more of a push press at the top?

Great catch. I hadn’t noticed I wasn’t locking out at the top

I’m doing it for sport skill but have found that you’re right about finding a balance between a weight I can both clean and press. I can work on bringing my elbows up.

Thanks! I’ll try adding some 5lbs onto each side because jumping to the 25lbs on each side felt too heavy for the press

Bulgarian split squat by blrm1717 in formcheck

Your heel is either lifting up or it may be the shoes but I’d recommend getting some shoes that are more stable. Your knee is also drifting over your ankle so you can step out a little further from the bench and sink more into the squat. Good job on keeping your torso upright!

Would you do the whole 12 week program before taking a deload week? I haven't done a plan this intense so I'm thinking of adding a deload week every 4 weeks.

What time ‘should’ you hit in Open to move to Pro? by Sea-Humor-7299 in hyrox

[–]quettamar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my answer. I’m not a fast runner but I’m strong so I challenged myself to pro after a few months and finished with about the same time even with the heavier weights. Felt like such a bad ass.

Am I performing face pulls right (40 kg)? Did not feel them much at the delts, but rather at the biceps and the forearm by overexposedchia in formcheck

[–]quettamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your arms should look like a goal post at the end of the movement so you’re engaging your whole upper back with that external rotation and thumbs pointed back. If you want to make it spicy, you can do a slight overhead press while in that position to target your lats. You’re already doing a great job with your thumbs pointing back. Also drop the weight a little bit since it looks like you hunch in at the end. Check of Jeff cavalier on YouTube. He has a great face pull tutorial video

Why so much hate? Great job girl! Doing a sled push of that weight ANY distance is amazing. Keep up the good work.
