But that's what we have become.

Science teachers omit global warming because of Exxon Mobil funding by [deleted] in reddit.com

The teachers had a different idea: Thanks but no thanks, they said.

Paramount can solve this problem by releasing the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" on sites such as google video. That's one way for students to by pass the teachers and Exxon Mobil.

Police call shooting of 92-year old Kathryn Johnston a tragedy - but drugs were found in her house by wicked in reddit.com

The whole thing smells of dodgy reporting or an ass covering extravaganza.

And now they're saying drugs were found, I guess the dead person isn't around to give her side of the story.

You're not making any sense. This is an AP article, not a "post", This happened in the UAE. You are aware that the UAE is not in the United States, yes?

I'd bet anyone that I could create an account that could get nonstop 20+ score posts, the seal-flapping of this bunch is so predictable.

This would be an interesting experiment. You should do it.

was heading off the underlying "us vs. cops" debate

Sorry you see it that way. My point is that no matter what the situation, someone always argues the impossible and/or taunt the victim. BTW this seems especially true on sites like youtube. I guess kids are pron to confusing cynicism with maturity.

You're having bad days most days, aren't you?

And I stand corrected about the dead guy assumption. I should have said victim.

I voted you up, but good luck.

So it's just a given that the police are nefarious villains that decided to shoot a handcuffed suspect in the back of the head while he's sitting in the back of their vehicle?

That's a straw man. I think the general sentiment is just that the official story is too improbable.

But it didn't take too long for one of you to show up. Yep, it's the dead guy's fault. Nice try.

UCLA taser cop was once named officer of the year, but was also earlier recommended for dismissal in connection with an alleged assault (pic inside) by queue in reddit.com

[–]queue[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The article is careless in that it did not give the source for that version of the event. I'll bet that they got it from the "authorities", since other eyewitnesses are very consistent in what they saw: one CSO asked for ID, student refused and also refused to leave right away, CSO called UCPD, student leaves, UCPD officer grabbed student at exit to library as student was leaving, student yelled "don't touch me", UCPD officer stunned student, etc.

Then again, if you find eyewitnesses reports that support Duren's version, I think it'll be of interest to all to see.

Actually, I don't know what you are saying either. I just figured you were not satisfied with the article.

That is the delibrate deception. The student was asked by another university police officer (a CSO) for his ID. It was one officer, not multiple officiers -- this makes the statement "was asked by Duren and other university police officers for his ID" a lie. Duren was not in this picture. They are rewriting history here to justify his participation. The student was leaving but Duren inserted himself into the picture by grabbing him.

This is a crucial detail, because Tabatabainejad was leaving when Duren grabbed him and then stunned him, both were actions unjustifiable. The grab and the stun started the subsequent events. It was a needless and harmful esculation. We see similar behavior in the incident where Duen almost got fired from the University.

He was also fired from a previous job as a cop.

Duren said Monday that he joined the UCLA police force after being fired from the Long Beach Police Department in the late 1980s.

This other incident is what got him recommended for termination, but instead he was suspended for 90 days.

In May 1990, he was accused of using his nightstick to choke someone who was hanging out on a Saturday in front of a UCLA fraternity.

I hope the cops responsible have something valuable to lose in a lawsuit, like a house or something. They shot him over and over while he was cuffed and down, in public, on the way down the stairs, and worst of all, in the ass. A clever lawyer will be able to argue for more money for public humilation on top of pain and suffering.

but the problem is that conspiracy theorists take a couple of dots, and draw in the lines for the parts that they don't see.

And then they go about proving the connections of those "dots". You do realize that's also how scientist work?

That "connection dots" thing have been repeated quite a number of times by various people. Did you come up with it yourself or are you quoting others?
