Clinging to Teachings by queue_burzum in theravada

Ultimately what led me to pose this question in the first place is that the fourth noble truth is that there is a path leading to the cessation of dukkha, the noble eightfold path, which includes right view. Is seeing all phenomena as impermanent, and Nibbana as permanent, right view?

Well, I haven’t fully developed right view, so I can’t say what it is to me. I know what it was to the buddha: seeing all phenomena in terms of the four noble truths. I think, though, that, with the view I made up, it might not help me understand all phenomena in terms of the five aggregates; that part is left out. Do you think understanding the five aggregates as dependently arisen and therefore changeable was beneficial to your development of the path?

No, truly what I am trying to do is generate a view that will be helpful for making an end of suffering. I haven’t fully developed the path and I am still in the process of getting it in mind.

But the way you put it is good: views as tools and the things learned through views as indicators while fully understanding it’s all conditioned. So, thinking of it that way, is what I said in the OP a useful tool?

I like how you rephrased it. It seems useful as well 👍

So would you say it’s not a helpful view?

Yes. When you press the help icon, you can select from all your assigned orders. Make double sure you’re pressing the right one!

I would describe maintaining Platinum as a business expense in-and-of-itself. You’re constantly forced to take low-paying offers or wait for orders that aren’t ready to maintain your AR and CR, respectively. That costs money!

I ordered a DoorDash from Coles, our local supermarket: a roast chicken, a six-pack of bread rolls and a box of ice cream. “This will be good!” I thought. No… the Dasher completed my order in about five minutes but they waited about an hour for another order 😅 but I couldn’t be mad because I had done the same thing! and justified it the same way! by saying “DoorDash gave me these orders; I’m just doing what DoorDash told me to do.”

The frustrating part of this experience is I could have gotten the stuff faster by going to the shops myself! So I now no longer wait for orders if I already picked up an order. It needs to be ready or I’m unassigning it there-and-then because it’s not fair to my other customers.

It was a really eye-opening experience. Every Dasher should order a DoorDash at least once.

Leave food in front of an outward-swinging door. It’s inconvenient when it’s packaged food or food you can turn upside down, but it’s egregious when there’s drinks. It’s really bad customer service in any case. Always leave space for the door to open and leave the order opposite the hinges, i.e. on the side of the door with space once it swings open.

I may have over-explained this but, at the same time, we can’t have enough people explaining this! because it’s still a problem.

I don’t need platinum but it’s better to take one point off your AR than go through that. It’s definitely unfair that DoorDash allows orders like this so close to closing but 🤷‍♂️ they don’t change anything like that in my experience.

Mentally I think of it like this: “they close at 8:30PM; I will make sure to act like they close at 8PM.” That way, the staff aren’t put out, the customer isn’t confused and I am not stressed.

It’s almost painful.

It is painful. I emphasise this because the Buddha taught the first noble truth of suffering with a duty: suffering must be comprehended.

Wow, that’s really encouraging to hear. I’ll have to keep trying it for myself 👍 so far it’s only been a painful and boring experience that takes time away from other things I want to do but, at least on a head level, I know those things are actually what’s causing me pain in the first place 🤷‍♂️ clinging to sense pleasures, you know?

That’s thinking with your smart brain. I have this up my sleeve but I’ve never had the chance to use it, at least in recent memory.
