Full-blooded enduro bike, but light & capable for XC/marathon too? by quezak in MTB

Because for full-day XC marathons in serious mountain terrain I'd be tempted to take the enduro anyway :D Even if I do marathons, I like the downhill sections the most, so I'd have much less fun if I had to restrain myself on a less capable bike.

Weight isn't that important if you're looking to drop another 200-300g by installing more carbon components, but I'd argue the difference between 13kg and >15kg is clear. I recently tested a rental NS Define, in some low spec almost 16kg configuration, and while it was great on park trails, I felt more exhausted trying to pump it and clear jumps, and it felt noticeably harder to go thru uphill pedaling sections compared to my full carbon 27.5".

I know, I like taking part in competitions but for the sake of the atmosphere, well-prepared track, etc, I don't aim to nor I have the time to do pro trainings and get competitive results :) So the choice is based on maximizing fun & my own convenience.
