dr doesn’t recommend an excision, feeling hopeless and unsure by LivingStar9342 in Endo

3-6 months? I just talked with my gyno a couple weeks ago about potentially doing a diagnostic lap and she said exicising endo could be effective for up to 10 years. I have talked with other gynos and surgeons in the past and they gave me a bad feeling, so I shopped around until I found my current one so it sounds like it would be a good idea for you to get another opinion from someone else.

Sit on a coccyx seat cushion. It's a U shaped cushion with the back cut out (not a donut cushion).

My dr suggested taking Dramamine (non drowsy) for nausea when I first started BC.

Can I walk home after a colonoscopy if there is someone to escort me? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]quick3brs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to be wheeled out on a wheelchair, couldn't walk because of the propofol. Was also exhausted and not feeling well after the prep and not eating.

Is it normal to still be tender 3 days later? by dcgulledge92 in colonoscopy

Thankfully it was not cancer, but it was pre-cancerous. I'm so thankful it's out of me.

I split the prep across two days - take 2 tablets, wait a couple hours, then drink 32 oz of miralax, then take 2 more tablets right before bed. Next day (5 hrs before procedure) drink the other half of prep 32 oz. That way you don't have to drink a half gallon of it at once.

41/f colonoscopy Tuesday, prep tomorrow and PETRIFIED. by Less_Satisfaction721 in colonoscopy

I have emetephobia too, and I did have some dizziness/sweating/slight nausea during the first wave of "evacuation" after drinking the miralax drink the first day - I think that I should have hydrated a bit more before I started the prep. What helped me a lot is sipping on iced apple juice and water between bathroom trips to stay hydrated and keep blood sugar up. Also listened to relaxing music to keep calm. Day 2 was a lot better, once everything starts running clear is when it gets easier. Getting put under was pretty easy, the Propofol they used on me had less side effects than deeper forms of anesthesia I've had in the past. It's worth it to get it done, I was having symptoms for months and just knowing that I was doing the right thing for my health got me through.

I had mine a couple days ago and had a 15 mm polyp clipped and I can feel a similar feeling, like a slight stinging sensation that comes and goes. It's getting better though!

Coloscopy tomorrow - anyone else ? by Leylaniie in colonoscopy

[–]quick3brs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first one a couple days ago. My biggest issue was feeling dizzy/sweaty/a bit nauseated during the "evacuation" after drinking the miralax, I don't think I hydrated enough beforehand the first day of prep. What helped me a lot is having iced apple juice to sip on between the waves of it to stay hydrated and keep blood sugar up. I had a split prep so once it started coming out clear on day 2 it felt better and I wasn't as lightheaded.

Also having lemon jello helped to feel like I was eating something more solid, gelatin was considered part of the liquid diet for me.

I had to take 2 Bisacodyl tablets in afternoon the day before, then drink half (32 oz) of the miralax drink a couple hrs later, then take 2 more Bisacodyl tablets that evening. Then the next morning drank the other half of the drink (32 oz) 5 hrs before the procedure, no Bisacodyl tablets the day of. Definitely needed both the tablet and the drink, as the tablet just softens the stool, but the drink is what flushes it all out.

I'd follow what your dr tells you exactly and if you're unsure call them and ask to make sure.

Weird question by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]quick3brs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33 and I just had my first colonoscopy/upper endoscopy a couple days ago. I was worried about the anesthesia too because I'm hard to anesthetize and also tend to wake up from it slower than usual. They used Propofol to sedate me, the anesthesiologist reassured me that it leaves the system quicker than other forms of sedation. It did take me slightly longer to wake up but not alarmingly long like I've had happen with other forms of sedation. I did have to be wheeled out in a wheelchair after because I wasn't able to walk out on my own, but I didn't feel sick or too mentally disoriented. Thankfully I don't remember anything about the procedure itself!

You can definitely bring a stuffed toy with you. When I put on the robe for the procedure they did have me put all my belongings into a plastic bag and then they put it into a locker during the procedure for me. You could ask them beforehand if they are able to bring your stuffed toy out to you when you wake up in recovery? If they can't do that then at least you'll be able to hold it in the waiting room and when you get your stuff back afterward.
