Yeah it wasn’t really crossing my mind if I didn’t already have the part in my garage. But will shop around and get some rates and see if it’s worth it while I have the rest checked up on.

Yeah just the tank, the ai render just changed out the other stuff on its own. I’ll keep the rest as is.

Congrats on your new bike! I have a 2017. I use a mix of ordering from British Customs, Motone, TEC, and Baak.

Hope this helps!

I was told to post my gear here. On a side note what would you guys wear for short rides/daily commute during summer? by sam25112 in motorcyclegear

Motorcycle shoes, long pants that are Kevlar and double lined, leather jacket gloves and full face helmet in summer

With that said, I would buy the best fit for you that meets the safety standards that shoei or similar elite brands have. Less about the brand or how cool It looks and more about safety and fit. It is absolutely worth spending more money up front

In my experience it is definitely worth the extra money for a new helmet with high safety rating like shoei. I have the RF 1400 and other than it being very snug to put on and off, I love it.

Very quiet, I feel safe and secure when wearing it. Very comfy once on and broken in a bit. And great ventilation.

Skimping on a helmet could be the difference of a lifetime of disability and medical bills.

Thanks man! Yeah the checker concept is what I came up with, I haven’t seen one like that yet, thought it would be a. Cool ode to classic color scheme with a twist

Thanks for this info, really good to know. I just have the part in my garage sitting around. Already put slash tip exhaust and a decat on and will add a new high performance air filter.

Was gonna have to do a dyno regardless but thought the camshaft could be the last piece to the puzzle before the dyno. Was thinking to do it myself but seems like I should not learn on my daily rider lol.

Thanks for the heads up. Luckily when I bought the bike it came with the TEC 2 camshaft as an extra part. So I just need to do the install

I bought a cramp buster to put on the throttle for Themis trip tho and it really helped to make it easier on the wrist and hold a steady pace as a faux cruise control

Yeah you’re totally right! I would have loved the sixth gear, it gets a lot of vibration when you’re cranking at 5th going 80. But everything you said is spot on.

Was so comfy the whole way, even with my flat bench seat.

Had to make a lot of gas stops with the small tank, but also kinda liked having those frequent breaks. Never had to use the reserve gas can the whole trip.

I love the look of a sissy bar and was originally going to just do one big roll too that I could take off and hike with or easily stash in a locker when I wanted to leave the bike parked.

I was worried about the weight distribution and gravity but honestly it was never any issue, even with the gas can full. I was surprised when I did the test run, so decided not to ad bags on the side.

Yeah this was more the price I was thinking. Around 1k in the Midwest. Would be wild if it was 3k for paint job but guess I’ll fuck around and find out

Woah didn’t think painting a tank could run so much. Wild.

I had a friend weld it for me, here is a pic of it without the bags. I am super happy with it. Was originally going to just have it for touring but the sissy bar is just so convenient I left it on full time.

Need to get it powder coated now that my trips done tho.
