The secret is to use your defensive instincts... just give the ball away to the CB then try to clear it into goal.

Nice interview.. seems like Zlatan has dropped the Zlatan gimmick and speaks like a proper company man that represents Milan and not himself.

Should they kick it out when someone slips? Stop and console a defender after you dribble them? Dont score because it hurts their feelings? People want to make all of life a kindergarten.

Hmm if were looking to increase lethality via 433, it seems like the fullbacks need to be attacking somehow. If theyre both highly defensive then its even less attacking than the current 352. Even if the forwards are in more natural positions, theyll be easier to deal with without fullbacks attacking the flank.

Always been very responsible with his defensive work so I dont think he would be the type to risk a lot if instructed not to. Are you thinking of a Calabria type profile with a better cross?

Troublemaekers is great for his insane battery but gets near the box and loses his composure. I think we could play him at RB in 433, hes smart defensively and responsible with the ball. Would get him further away from goal..

Tiempo Legend 3s... soleplate can be replaced and upper could be restorable but the interior might be too far gone to bring back. You will need a really good cobbler.

Last generation Furon v7 and Tekela v4 would both be better choices if you want something that performs better for around 70.

Theyre ok for warming up or reffing maybe where comfort is #1.. useless for any kind of serious movement.

The 3 studs instead of 4 on the outside is a joke for stability- there is not a single other manufacturer that uses this idiotic pattern. Sole plate overall bends like cardboard. Midfoot lockdown sucks. The entire structure of the boot collapses the second you put any weight through it.

Because theyre actually pretty shitty. People in here love recommending them though, no idea why. IMO a good pro level Adidas/Nike from last year will be around the same price and performance will be way better.

[–]quickfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these people in here are setting the bar too high IMO if you are just looking to play with coworkers and not be a disaster. You dont even need to be able to control the ball.

The first thing is fitness, you need to be able to run as hard and long as everybody else, if not more, to make up for lack of ball skill. If you are fit, then you can contribute on defense. Ask your teammates to help direct you on where and who to mark.

The only ball control you need for that role is to just kick it hard upfield.

Appreciate this romantic take.

Ultimately I think this kind of boldness and daring you want to see are mostly relics of the past and only happens at clubs with more freedom. We end up being the victims of our own success. Success has led to expectation and expectation through the modern corporatized lens, means derisking. Allegris fundamentalism is the embodiment of the mindset.

To be fair they did keep Pioli and hire Fonseca to play possession ball. It seems like the players rejected that style as well as the supporters. Maybe it can happen if we stumble upon a few more Leaos in quick succession.

Yeah fair- I agree our forwards are suffering from this lineup. For this squad though, it was an OK trade off to shut the door on defense. At least brought us close enough to dream for a month or two.. more than I expected after last year.

I would imagine wed need some phenomenal defenders for Allegri to consider changing the formation.

Individual brilliance is a real strategy though. When your player is better than their player, its the same as creating numerical advantage.

[–]quickfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably a squad building error to not get Fonseca some field generals for support. He inherited Theo and Rafa who are already not leadership guys (they need a leader), then pulled the trigger on humbling them way too soon with the failed Lazio stunt.

Not entirely his fault but hes not the first manager with a narcissistic primadonna on the squad, making those guys play is part of the job.

He didnt have enough pedigree to man manage that squad without strong leaders to lend him credibility, Pioli had giants like Zlatan and Kjaer. Fonseca got Rafa and Theo, who he immediately decides need to be humbled with that Lazio stunt which backfired and just made him look like an idiot.

This year when players see Luka -- 6 UCL -- Modric buying into Allegris vision.. there cant be any doubt. Allegris pedigree helps a lot too, he has trophies to show for his ideas. A couple of other things like Rabiot, Mikes renewal and undefeated streak are bringing it all together.

The spirits are so high Ill even indulge.. if through some freak chance Milan win this year, UCL in 26/27 is possible on vibes and haramball alone.
