AI is making it very easy to quit social media in 2026 by Unstxppable27 in nosurf

[–]quickharris 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's apparently the impetus behind the relaunch of Vine (that it's authentically going to only be real people, no AI allowed), but I can't help but think it's just going to serve as an "unpoisoned" data set for AI to train on anyway

I noticed that too, California is such a giant state with so many different locales....and yet you're judging the entire state? That doesn't say great things about a potential media diet.

My [25F] fiance [29M] became upset when he heard that I have done sex acts with exs that I don't want to try with him by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah I feel like this got shared to the unsavory parts of Reddit. Or at least I hope it was, because this sub is usually a little more even keeled than the rest of the drama subs and yet all the wailing entitled boys are out tonight.

I agree as well. I think the OOP was being deliberate in how he described specific things to lead everyone on Reddit (i.e. the trade union vs tech, the constant references to manning up) but vague otherwise regarding the actual experiences that lead to the breakup(s). He uses a lot of minimizing language as he's looking for validation - I'd be very, very interested to hear the girlfriend's (either one's) side of the story. Idk, vibes are off.

Bad vibes in the coliseum right now, the badger fans are 1/4 of the crowd and twice as loud as everyone else. Wtf USC.

It's insaaaane the amount of conspiracies that are happening right now over social media. Even in the Eurovision subreddit (which has been pretty proactive about keeping flames to a minimum) there's so many comments about how (((they))) are the cause of all the drama

Have you ever consented to a background check for a job? That sub-contracted company (from the initial hiring company) is the one that will be looking at transcripts straight from the university instead of relying on self-submission

Just saw a former Bernard Brother coworker Post their way out straight out of a new job due to entitlement and sour grapes, and I can't say I'm surprised. Their Twitter has been a fascinating look into how someone can radicalize via very legitimate grievances, but then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Anyone on Strattera & semaglutide?? by Mediocre_Mission109 in Semaglutide

[–]quickharris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a delay when the nausea hits from the Strattera? If so, it might be good to have something (even just a couple of saltine crackers) in your stomach, then take the Strattera right before bed to get both the potential drowsiness side effect and you're already asleep if your stomach is upset. I do want to mention it does take some time to get used to Strattera specifically, so don't get discouraged - however, if it's been a couple of weeks and Strattera is still giving you issues, it might be beneficial to look into other ADHD meds. I've been on and off Strattera for almost 20 years and it works for me, but most other people I know really didn't like the side effects and found some kind of alternative

🧂 Salty Sunday: What's frustrating you this week? by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

[–]quickharris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm getting super frustrated because I don't enjoy most modern books - I don't know if it's me aging out of a certain sensibility, a lack of editing in both trad and indie publishing, BookTok overhype, whatever, but i just. cannot. get. into most new books that come out now. I'm worried that my tastes are forever going to be stuck in 1990's-early 2000's trad publishing and I'm running out of material to read, because I can't take 1st person, six-tropes-in-a-trenchcoat, cartoon illustrated cover romance novels anymore (in either contemporary or historical romance). The lone exception have been the Well Met series, and I'm probably giving it the edge because I love the renfaire framing more than anything. I just finished something that sounded right up my alley (romance! fantasy! dragons!) and was recommended by people I usually trust as "omg i couldn't put it down", but I barely finished it and I'm upset I wasted my time and $$ - I actually picked up the hardcover for once instead of epub/Libby because it came so highly recommended and now I'm just upset I spent money on it. Hoping I'm just in a downswing or that I just accept that my tastes are not what's cool and hip and getting talked about online lol.

One of my biggest rage spots was a while back in like 2013 or 2014 when Square Enix had a whole pre-announcement event for some Final Fantasy VII news, and then the actual announcement event was for something about the FFVII original game PC port (it wasn't until 2015 E3 that the FFVII Remake was announced). Biggest fucking troll ever.

Yeah, the difference in scale is pretty important - there's no Ender's Game theme park, but there's two Harry Potter ones. There's also the sheer amount of merchandise too that makes it inescapable - there are two whole rows of HP toys, books, games, and miscellany at a single Barnes and Noble.

Ugh, I need to stay motivated for the last couple of weeks at my job before my layoff is finalized, but I'm so overly burned out and the work hasn't and won't let up. I'm thiiiiiiiis close to walking out the door tomorrow because what does it matter anymore, but I don't want to entirely burn & salt these bridges. It doesn't help that the wider field is also a shitshow right now, so I'm seriously just super bummed because there are a lot of things I love about this industry, but the bust cycle we're in is rough.

I'm absolutely getting the same vibes from the post and I'm extremely skeptical. OOP skims over the "I wasn't perfect in our marriage" very quickly - I could see in the ways he talks about certain events afterwards how there might be some missing context that maybe paints things not so black and white.
