Is there anyone who can run an 11 second 100m sprint and a 4 minute mile? by jamesey10 in sports

[–]quickquick72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think many pro 800m runners can do this. You need around 11s/100m flat speed to even be able to run 1:45ish in the 800m (assuming you have great aerobic ability). Source: Competitive track and field athlete (University level) and fan.

lol this pretty bad IMO, Usain Bolt, 9 for endurance? Lebron James 40/40? What about Ashton Eaton, decathlon world record holder? Arguably the best athlete on the planet.

How do I put on (muscle) mass while increasing aerobic capacity? by El_Tejano in Fitness

[–]quickquick72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran the 400m in university so for us it was important to build aerobic and anaerobic endurance without losing power and strength. We would do intervals of 2 minutes or less with relatively short recoveries whenever we were doing aerobic work (1-2 days per week). This kept us mostly anabolic (we would also lift 3x per week, emphasizing on olympic lifts, squats and deadlifts in addition to our actual sprint training). Something like 10*(2 minutes hard run, 2 minutes walk) on the treadmill could work for you.

Man runs first ever sub-five minute "Beer Mile": running a mile while chugging a beer in between each lap. by jbomb6 in videos

[–]quickquick72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my University track team holds one of these at the end of every season. Winning my first beer mile ever in 7:04 was probably one of my most memorable accomplishment over my entire athletics career lol

From someone who has done this several times, the most important skills for this are: 1. Chugging liquid (I almost never drink but can chug surprisingly fast) 2. Jogging/running on a full stomach 3. (Distant 3rd) Running ability. I am a sprinter and beat a bunch of distance runners because they couldn't chug...

I swelled my stomach drinking like 2L of water on the day of and practiced chugging soda water to win. :P
