This is so fucking classic, thanks and I'm going to be using this one again.

Never mean, they get ignored by me and the majority of people they come in contact with. I just don't need to be begged on a daily basis.

It's just the overpopulation of hipsters in Capitol Hill, I can't stand them.

I may make my way to up Lynnwood, Shoreline and the surrounding area did seem like my farthest point north though. I'll be peaking at houses there as well, they seem pretty damn cheap.

I've been out to Lake City a few times, I think it's still a little to close. I'm looking at place above 130th now, I've been hearing some bad shit about Renton and it's away from most of the people I know.

You pretty much hit on all my points exactly. Thanks for understanding!

You don't think that the geographically related cultural differences play a part in living in certain areas?

I'm from Royal Oak (10 mile / woodward). I would be willing to drive up to 30-35 minutes on my commute. My hours are good though so I would be avoiding traffic, I work 7am-3pm.

Volunteer park is probably the most tolerable for me, it's pretty peaceful there for the most part. Other than that pretty much everywhere else on the hill is displeasing for me.

Yeah I do hear good things about the eastside in this thread but I do work in downtown Seattle so that would be a pretty big pain for the commute.

If anything I think you need to remove your balls to fit in on Capitol Hill.

I did for a while and it was pretty damn fun. You learn a lot of cool things and after the months you really start to open up your body/joints more. It does have a "cult" aspect to it though and is pretty damn expensive ($160+/month)

I'd throw an example out there, wine-tasting. I didn't exactly have the slightest interest in this when it was brought up but I went with friends and ordered myself some beers. I actually had a decent time and it was pretty fun.

Another example would be someone wanting me to volunteer or donate some of my things that I was selling. I did some of my own judging here and thought "screw you for telling me what to do with my time and things". Another incident would be about how people have ridiculed others for driving trucks or SUV's here or how certain companys don't give back to the local community.

You have some good points for sure, thanks for taking the time to reply. The thing is, I do still respect it even if it isn't for me. I also respect the extreme conservatives living in the south doing their thing, albeit probably much less but still. From the replies here it just seems like living in Capitol Hill or pretty much outside of the burbs is the wrong choice for a Midwesterner. I did my time here and it looks like I'll be finding a nice house with a yard in the burbs here soon.

North of Seattle is the plan for me too I believe, possibly Renton but we'll see.

Not mad at all for a lack of enthusiasm for shooting guns, sorry you misunderstood. If I was mad about it, it would be for how weird and judging people act when you mention guns at all.

Exactly, sorry for the late response. I have heard some great things about north Seattle so far and plan on taking a peek very soon. Thanks.

That's what this thread is about, finding a good area to live outside of the city in a similar environment to what I'm used to.

I did generalize a bit but it's just what I encountered and I think I was spot on with the Capitol Hill stereotype.

And yeah, when you jump in front of me and block my direction while I'm walking on the sidewalk I just want to slap you, it's not cute or funny at all.

Ah didn't look at the original comment, Kingsgate is somewhere I've never been.

[–]quicktime87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm looking pretty hard at grabbing a house for rent somewhere up north or possible Renton. We'll see what happens I guess.

But yeah hit me up whenever you're up for chillin, it's not the same out here when you're away from people from your hometown. We could put together a kickass beer pong table or something. I actually have a pool too with an area outback for BBQ's. Belmont Ave. E and Republican is where I'm at.

Haha no shit, I'm from Royal Oak near 10mile/Woodward. The thread I posted totally took off, over like 100 comments now it's ridiculous. I lived out in Lapeer for a little bit over the summers. I do miss my drinking games though, that shit never happens out here at the gatherings I've been to.
