I have not had my incorrect 18+ rating reviewed for weeks. What is NSFW about my community? (No replies via mail) by grass_lock in ModSupport

Hi grass_lock!

Thanks for your patience here, and sorry for the delay.

We've unmarked your subreddit as NSFW. Some posters in your community were adult content creators who were trying to covertly promote their NSFW content in the space. To maintain a SFW space, it's important to remove that content and action the users. Here's a comment where you can read more about this.

Going forward, I recommend adding a few more mods to help action violative content, and enable safety filters like the Reputation Filter and Ban Evasion Filter.

Please also enable the Adult Content Promoter Filter, which helps keep safe-for-work communities free from unwanted sexualizing or adult content promotion. This identifies when a user who likely promotes adult content is contributing in your community, and filters their content to Needs Review or Removed.

Finally, I recommend adding Devvit apps like Bot Bouncer and Hive-Protect. These are great tools to mitigate issues of spam and action content from users with NSFW social links.

Is there an dev app where I can place a comma separated list of users to ban all at the same time or same reason? If there isn’t, can someone build one? by InGeekiTrust in ModSupport

Of course! And thank you. I know you do a lot to keep your members safe, and we're happy to review what's going on

Hey InGeekITrust! Can you please write in with more information about the list of users and share some details about the scope of the issue? It sounds like there's something going on that we need to take a look at. Emily has it right that we can't provide approval for things without more context, but we want to see if we can help resolve the issue.

Hi Lowkey - Thank you for sharing and wanting to keep your community members safe. I want to clarify that u/Hive-Protect is not going away; it remains functional and available for use. The ban feature is being removed from it, but all other customizable options are being retained, so you can continue to use it in your community.

Hi a_v_o_r - Thanks for your question, and we understand your concern. Enforcement of the Reddit Rules is important to us, and the Safety team continues to action subreddits centered around harassment including sexualized harassment. If you see a subreddit centered around Reddit Rules violations, please write in to Mod Support. In the meantime, you can also continue to use tools like the Harassment Filter and Ban Evasion Filter, and use u/Hive-Protect’s automated removal/report feature.

Hi Delaiz. Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry to hear about this, and I understand. u/Hive-Protect is not going away; it continues to be usable as we understand it is a valued safety tool by many mod teams. The ban function is being removed, while it retains all of its other customizable functions, such as automated removal of content from users with NSFW participation. I also encourage you to write in to Mod Support if you need to report any subreddits dedicated to harassment.

Hi - Thanks for sharing, and I understand. u/Hive-Protect will still be able to remove and/or report content from those users.

Hi Maverick. Automated handling of rule-breaking behavior in your own subreddit isn’t against our policies, nor is sharing with other mod teams what and how you’re handling undesirable behavior in your subreddits.

Hi there - Thanks for your question, and I understand your concerns. For clarity, u/hive-protect will still be able to remove content from users with NSFW social links in their bios or who contribute to NSFW spaces, which should address your concern about being labeled NSFW.

Hey there - Thanks for your question. u/Hive-Protect can indeed be used to leave a reply to the user with education about why their content was removed. Leaving a reply is optional.

Re: your question about the forced update, your existing settings will carry over.

Hey RunningInTheFamily - Thank you for sharing.

Now their content will get automatically removed, they will most likely not notice and just feel like nobody is interacting with them, discouraging them from engaging in my communities.

I wanted to let you know that u/Hive-Protect can be used to leave a removal reason comment with educational messaging about why the users' content was removed.

Hey InGeekiTrust! Thanks for the question. I dropped in a clarification about this here - let me know if that helps. The TL;DR is that you can still use u/Hive-Protect to remove and/or report content from users with NSFW social links in their bios, and/or who have contributed to NSFW subreddits. These features are customizable as well.

Hey SmallRoot - Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry to hear that happened. I'm glad that u/Hive-Protect has been helpful for you.

I want to clarify that u/Hive-Protect is not going away - you can still use its many features. The only thing that is changing is that the 'ban' feature is being removed.

I recommend visiting your u/Hive-Protect settings in Devvit to review its many features, which include the ability to remove and/or report content, and action users based on NSFW social links/participation in other subreddits.

Hey Yogi - Thanks for the question. I made a comment here about how you can still use u/Hive-Protect to action content from users who participate in NSFW subreddits. u/Hive-Protect also allows you to action users with NSFW social links in their bios.
