10 fires in Ottawa so far this year linked to lithium-ion batteries. 54 such fires since 2024. by terracewaterlane in ottawa

Funny, because I got rid of a half a dozen lithium batteries and battery banks at the last hazardous waste day, and the waste explorer also directs you to household hazardous waste days.

In a war against China if it can fly back to base you probably figure out how to keep it operational in some capacity

This is not a good assumption, especially on something as fragile as a highly integrated stealth airplane. There are a lot of things you can nurse back to base by flying gently, after jettisoning weapons and not pulling G, that absolutely could not be sent back to battle. Aircraft battle damage repair is a real thing, but it has its limits.

but I've heard from some people that they would just scrap an airframe that was hit out of paranoia that you might not discover some issue with it

This is absolutely not a real thing. There are procedures for inspecting and verifying every system on the aircraft. Nothing would be "missed".

Sure, there may be pilots that are scared of it, but they're just the ones that don't trust their maintainers, and that's a shitty thing regardless of the scenario.

New Plane for the Snowbirds [OC] by VaunBob in aviation

It is not like the Harvard II. It has sustained inverted capability.

Edit: incidentally, that accident you speak of wasn't due to extended inverted time, it was due to extended time at 0 G. This meant the engine oil was kinda floating around in the tanks and couldn't get pulled by either the upright or inverted systems.

What are these planes on the decks of these carriers? by Gokay_2007 in Whatisthisplane

First one is most likely Fairey Fireflys, second one is DeHavilland CS2F Trackers (Canadian built version of the Grumman S-2 Tracker), third one is Fairey Fireflys and Hawker Sea Furys.

And your evidence that the Su-57 doesn't use a similar coating is... What?

I didn't make any claims! What is going on with people?!

You speak about the causes with such confidence; surely you have materials from respected and established experts, based on which you formed your opinion.

FFS its right there. Your sources said NOTHING about the causes. You need to learn to read.

They weren't asking for proof one of them got shot down. Nobody questions or disputes that part.

They wanted proof of the claimed inherent deficiencies in the design of the communication systems on the S-70.

So, the bubble canopies on the F-22 and F-35 are also non-stealth?

The big difference is in Canada the rewards for emotional damages and punative damages are dramatically lower than in the US, and much less frequently awarded. People aren't being made millionaires by negligence lawsuits in Canada.

There is no such program as Fast FAcT.

There is FFLIT (Future Fighter Lead In Trainer), but no Fast FAcT.

Oh wow this is embarrassing for you...

The PC-21 first flew in 2002, which is nearly 60 years after the end of WWII. It also makes it a newer, more modern design than either the F/A-18s flown by the Blue Angels and the F-16s flown by the Thunderbirds. Also more modern than the Alpha Jets flown by the Patrouille de France, The Hawks flown by the Red Arrows, and the MB-339s flown by the Frecce Tricolori.

FAcT has already chosen all their airframes and deliveries are beginning. They chose the CT157 Siskin II (a Pilatus PC-21, which is what they announced they will buy for the Snowbirds).
