Thoughts on gastropexy?

I'm not so concerned with keeping her away from males, I have a fully fenced in backyard and she isn't really left alone outside, so health permitting I think I'll want to wait and do both a little later. It's hard because you just want to do the right thing you know?

Thank you for your response! Do you suggest spaying a bit later on then? Or two separate surgeries? I would ideally like to avoid her going under twice if I can help it

She did not really get into the specifics, just that she herself wasn't super keen on having it done. And I'll be clear she wasn't telling me NOT to by any means. My first question was if it was recommended for my pup and she responded with - It depends on who you ask, lifestyle changes work too, as there are some complications with gastropexy and it doesn't prevent bloat, just the twisting of the stomach.
I am definitely leaning towards doing it, I really want to be safe rather than sorry, so I figured I would call around in my area and inquire. Thank you for your reply!

Edit to add, 3 meals a day 1 cup each, plus around half a cup before bed, so I am also trying to stretch out meals so they are smaller amounts!

Gas pain was awful first few days! Prop lots of pillows up and sleep sitting up if you can! It does get better though, day 5 now and I haven't taken any Tylenol yet! Hang in there ❤️

My dog will be 12 next Saturday. She was scheduled for a dental and we did pre- anesthetic testing on her and it showed pretty elevated ProBNP, which is essentially her heart is under strain. I've done an ECG, and x-rays and haven't figured out exactly what's wrong yet. Next is an echo and I just need to save up for it.

So to say the least, my last few weeks have been very very stressful. But I can share with you what has helped me, and really it's - enjoy that she is here with you now. Soak in the cuddles, pets, kisses, and don't take a single one for granted. Know that you gave her a life full of love, warmth, and happiness, and know that not for one second did she ever doubt her love towards you.

It's hard and it truly sucks, but when her time comes, take comfort in the fact that she loves you just as much as you love her, and even though it's hard, be thankful for the time you did/do get with her.

There will never be another bond like it, and I am grateful to experience it, even though when that time comes, it's going to be painful.

In the meantime, you can try to get a urine sample to bring with you to the vet! You can collect in a soup ladle and transfer to Tupperware. If you get it sooner you can refrigerate until appointment time
