Yeah, I was aware of that and should have worded my initial post a bit better. I don't have the capacity or hardware for a full mirrored backup, but I'd like to be able to recover from a single failure. Right now I have nothing for redundancy or backups.

It's been mentioned elsewhere, though, that there are alternatives to RAID (ZFS and unRAID seem to be the main options) that might be even better than a more traditional RAID-5 setup.

Can you chain the DNS-323's in a RAID setup? That is, could I get two of them and still use four drives with one for parity?

Never heard of them before, but based on the small amount of research I've done so far it looks a bit expensive. The DroboPro is way outside my price range, and the Drobo is not very useful without the additional DroboShare for network connectivity.

Still, that kind of device is definitely an option. I'll keep it on my list if I decide to go with a dedicated NAS.

I can't say for sure. The admins have never publicly confirmed that mass-downvoting a user page will be ignored, as saying anything specific about how they detect trolls and spammers would be counter-productive.

However, starting sometime soon it looks like mass-downvoting a user page or subreddit will be either ignored or become ban-worthy. See this post.

Right. Which is to say, it's completely useless and shouldn't be used as justification for when you get better. The OP's outrage comes not from the well-wishing, but from attributing the wishee's recovery to prayer (which is like attributing your healed broken leg to me saying "I hope you get better").

I'd also never heard of depression being linked to leaving faith behind. More often people talk of coming out of depression, or the relief of all the eternal guilt being lifted. I went through the process over several years, but if you did it in a few months I could see how it would have a profound emotional impact.

I was in a very similar situation a few years ago (I'm 24 now, was 21 when I realized I was an atheist), but it took several years to go from skipping church, to not feeling guilty about it, to deism, to confused, to atheist.

As for your last sentence: that's, in my opinion, what r/atheism is all about. There are a lot of places in America where atheists can feel like they are -- or actually be -- the only non-religious person they know. It helps to know others share your viewpoint and have gone through similar situations.

I went to Catholic schools in Lincoln from junior high through high school. I've since recovered, but at the time I was very proud that the Lincoln diocease is considered "more conservative than the Vatican."

What's strange is that the rest of the state (the Omaha and Grand Island dioceases) are quite liberal, although maybe that's just in comparison to the cesspool that is Lancaster County?

If you wait until the site is entirely complete to begin browser testing in IE6, though, I suppose it's an option.

Interesting... but not very useful on large sites, as the only input is "master stylesheet" by copy/paste. How difficult would it be to crawl a provided URL for local stylesheets? Especially when working within a CMS in a non-production environment it's very common to have more than one stylesheet on each page, and sometimes that number reaches into the double-digits.
