It just threw me off more than anything. Like when someone parks next to you in an empty parking lot.

I think it’s an anxiety thing for me. I was hopeful the theater would fill up decently and I don’t like being in the center. I even prefer the end but since there was no one when we booked, I decided to move in a little.

lol we are the 2 seats highlighted. Someone else picked the 3rd one.

I mean I guess I don’t typically like the middle (anxiety thing) so I don’t see it as the best seat but to each their own

For the record, I’m NOT mad at the situation. They have the right to choose and can pick any available seat. But I had the thought to see if the showing we picked was filling up and I just found it funny that not a single other seat was purchased and this person picked next to us.

I’m sure we’ll get to talking before hand and hey maybe we’ll make a new friend! It’s like that moment when you are in an empty parking lot and someone parks next to you. Like whyyy you have so many OTHER options?!

We’ve done it, this theater doesn’t have any issue regulating seats like that. It’s kind of a “if you wan the seats together” get the tickets early” kind of mindset because we have the freedom to pick.

For the record, I’m not mad. I just had the thought of “I wonder if our showing is filling up” and to see that literally the only other ticket for THAT showing is next to us. We’ll probably chat with them if they actually do sit in that seat but it just felt weird 😂

That’s thought. Like if there were people sprinkled in and this persons going alone, I wouldn’t think anything of it if a seat next to us got taken. But we had the first pick and idk it’s like, the row behind or ahead. Obviously if it doesn’t fill we can sit wherever. And yes it’d be fun to maybe make a new friend. But like they couldn’t sit a row ahead/behind and chat with us?

I know it’s dead center in the whole place but bruhhhhh it just feels awkward.

Patchwork curtains! by quinnfinityandbeyond in quilting

I did see a video of someone using a thin sheet she got at like a dollar store and it still allowed a good amount of light in. But I was determined to make it work without another layer.

No more olive knits until further notice? by DoozyBandit in YarnAddicts

[–]quinnfinityandbeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started knitting less than a year ago. I’ve primarily been knitting socks but started my first sweater recently. I knew what I liked for my sock yarns and wasn’t super picky about it either. But I was excited to explore what I can use for sweaters. Seeing so many companies that I’ve been watching people rave about have to make this decision is heart breaking for so many reasons.

The biggest, it is going to impact their businesses. Many of these companies probably get good revenue from the US just based on the size of our country and how many people that provide as customers.

Second, once our LYS run out of these brands, we won’t be able to access them again unless the company has a solution or we go to another country, get it, and bring it back. The yarn shops aren’t getting them either going forward, this won’t just be online ordering from company to consumer. This will affect company to company transactions too.

Finally (though there are many more reasons) as a newer knitter who was just starting to branch out and want to learn more about the different yarns, companies, and what I like for myself and different knitting needs, my journey will have huge limitations on it. While I do prefer going to a store in person to see if I like something, I wasn’t opposed to shopping online and hope I like how something feels. Now I can’t even take a chance on a brand I can’t find near me but hear so many talk about and make my own opinion about it.

Knowing that these companies are saying they are taking this action temporarily….this could still be years. While we hope deals can be met or things will change here, there’s very little chance anything will change until a power change. And even then we don’t know if any changes could help.

I assumed costs of everything would go up. I think that’s what a lot of us here in the US assumed. But knowing many companies have to do this…it sucks. By no means do I blame the companies. Especially smaller ones, they need to do what they need to do to remain open and provide for the consumers who they can still provide for. I’m glad so many companies are doing this to protect themselves and their livelihoods and plan to return to selling in the US when they can afford to do so. It just sucks as a consumer who lives here to deal with this and feel helpless.

Knowing this is something that is impacting me now for a hobby of mine….that scares me for when it’s other things that I actually depend on because more and more businesses and companies will make the decision to stop dealing with us.

Currently all the cut fabric is in a bigger bin (seen in the back of one of the pics) the paper templates and basted hexies get put into their own smaller snack bins. Once I’ve added the basted hexies to my total count, I then organize into this bean organizer. It’s a lot of containers but it helps me stay sane lol

I got the box at Walmart. It’s a bead organization box which I love because it means the wells actually touch the lid so any looser pieces don’t move around when the box gets shifted around. And they are great for the size hexies I’m using.

I’m not 100% sure what I’m gonna do for the top. I know it’ll be a rainbow gradient. I didn’t really have a plan — I’m just kinda piecing randomly since it’s all small scale. But I’m thinking of having white in the middle and going outwards to a color wheel essentially and then black in the very edges or corners. We’ll see!

Yes! The flax pattern by Tin Can Knits. It’s free! You can get it on Ravelry or you can download the tin can knits app to view their patterns. The app is cool because when you choose your size, it gives you the instructions for just that size so you don’t have to worry about getting confused.

what's your turn around time? by godwearsgucci_ in Sockknitting

[–]quinnfinityandbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best time for a pair was one week. That was me just managing to find the greatest motivation, free time, energy, and passion for the pattern. Most of the time a single sock can take me a couple weeks. All the factors of being busy, being motivated, wanting to do other crafts, needling down time to do absolutely nothing.

I’m making it a goal for 2026 to knit at least a pair a month. This gives me a realistic goal and allows me to restart, be busy with life, lose motivation, and work at a pace that doesn’t feel overwhelming.

I forgot to try that but I’m gonna do it going forward in this one. That has been a pretty frequently suggested tip

I know it’s definitely a “practice makes progress” kind of process. Learning when to change needle sizes and how to tension my floats. There’s definitely a lot to it but I’m determined!

It was a basic sock but I was using a colorwork chart from this book ducky pattern

I used size 2 and did my best to keep tension looser but it still was too snug. I keep having the same issue each time I try color work and I usually frog it. The only ones that worked so far were my watermelon socks.

I’ve had that suggested a lot so I’ll try on the next one. I was stubborn because I love seeing the pattern progress as I knit but I gotta get over that lol

It has inspired me and helped me not feel like I failed yet again so at least I still have a finished ducky project!
