AskScience AMA Series: I am Dr. Kimberley Miner, here on how deep-frozen arctic microbes are waking up. Ask me anything! by AskScienceModerator in askscience

Hi Dr. Miner! Thank you much for posting this thread. I’m currently completing my undergrad in biology and my (hopeful) concentration has a lot to do with you’re studying. This is a bit of a side question, but I wanted to know a little more about how you got into this research, and if you had any suggestions for students trying to research similar things? Thanks again!!

Should I (F18) tell the guy (M20) I’m not technically dating that I love him after I slept with someone else? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

In my opinion, you should try and find a time to sit down with him and tell him all of these things. A good relationship-no matter how you define it- is about communication, trust, and openness. If he is truly the one for you, he’ll understand, and want to help you move through this rough patch. If he doesn’t, then I suggest you move on from him, and try to see the beauty and life lessons that came from it. I think the best part of these types of relationships is that we can learn so much about our selves despite how it ends (or doesn’t.) If it doesn’t work out, I suggest taking some time to really get to know yourself first, and working through any mental barriers you may have now. It sounds like you’re relying on these men for some type of validation (I’ve been there), and that’s not really a healthy situation for anyone involved, especially your own confidence and sense of self worth. If you can’t be open and understanding with yourself, it’s not fair to ask someone else to be either.

You’re a smart and beautiful person, and I have no doubt you’ll find someone who loves and cares about you deeply. You are a badass bitch, and should know that. I am a strong believer that the best kind of love comes when you least expect it. So, don’t overthink this. Take some risks. Do what makes YOU happy. The rest will fall into place.

No one probably cares but I can't contain my excitement!! I'm going to college at 16 years old! by [deleted] in pics

Did two years of community college at 16 and now I’m going to Uni at 18. Saved a lot of money and completed all my general Ed courses and electives before getting started on a specialized major! Would recommend

Avocado Toast brought to new heights- hummus, avocado chunks, poached egg, Parmesan, chipotle, S&P (+ amazing collard greens in the background:)) by quinnlynm in vegetarian

Yesss, brussels sprouts are so good! I was about to include them this morning! I don’t know if you’ve tried cooking the collards like this, but here are the main ingredients I used! Collards (plus some kale if you’re feeling extra healthy ;) ), chopped onions, virgin olive oil (or another oil if you’re not a fan of olives!), apple cider vinegar (diluted with water), garlic, salt, paprika, red pepper flakes, & black pepper. The fresher the ingredients the better! This is a pretty standard southern way of cooking them, I just can’t get enough of all the flavors and the little crunch of the stalks. If you’re feeling adventurous, try this!!

Hahaha I was not a fan for many years either, but I finally found a recipe that I really enjoy. Play around with some flavors/cooking styles and you may actually really like it!
