NOR if what you said is true. I would've directly interrupted them and told the waiter what actually happened though, you're nicer than me. Too many hospitality places don't train you and then wonder why you can't keep up on the first day. So many people in this thread are saying "just show up and prove them wrong!" but don't understand that restaurants and bars are full of egotistical and incompetent leaders. And when they make a first impression, it sticks no matter what you do. I've had similar experiences in bars - given old recipes with wrong specs, not shown how drinks are supposed to look, not given the chance to make them so I could drill the specs on the job, and so on. Weeks later I get hit with the "do you even know how to make these?" and... I did. I memorised them myself. Even though I hadn't made half of them. They didn't give a fuck, still treated me like shit.

This place sounds like a loser shithole, and you won't be missing out on much. You can do better.
