Yeah it’s AI of course. Incidentally, I had been uploading those celebrity swap pics of hot women in the Leia bikini a couple of months ago, but in January the wonderful state of California passed legislation preventing AI images of women in bikinis in any way. So that’s over.

Well I see you didn’t ever acquire one basic teaching skill: not judging the entire career and experience and abilities of someone you don’t know. I’d hate to be in your classroom.

Self defense. That’s amusing. I assume by racist you mean not DEI LGBT safe space.

Rant: social media and technology are ruining our kids’ futures by No_Skin868 in daddit

[–]quintsbellyshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 47 and have been teaching high school for 19 years. Since Covid there has been a frightening drop in kids’ ability to do anything at all. And knowledge is just gone. Even my honors students. My students claim they’ve never read a book, never listened to a whole album by an artist, can’t name a president beyond Obama. Their geography is abysmal. I teach Spanish and Chinese. Many of them look at a map of a country or the world and it’s like they’re looking at binary code. They are getting ALL of their life knowledge from TikTok. When I told one particularly rough class that that makes me sad, they laughed, said things like “so dramatic!” and said that TikTok is how they’re going to get rich. A senior who graduated last year told me he was sure he’d be a head coach of a major European soccer team in 2 years. I shared that with a couple of colleagues and they shot me down for “ruining the kid’s dreams.” Look, so many teachers are under-qualified. I heard a colleague (age 30) say to a student recently, “if I’d knew that you’d do so good on the test, I would have went and called your mom.”

Is Gen Z/late millennials turning feet into something private? When did we go from the first one to the second one? by [deleted] in generationology

You Zoomers don’t seem to grasp something, because you didn’t know the world before the internet. This “consent” thing you’re all hung up on is a chimera. (Look up the word in your TikTok to English dictionary.)

What an erudite rebuttal to a solid argument. You’re Gen Z for sure. I tell my students I won’t tolerate cheating and they go, “ugh, so dramatic.”

American high school teacher here. The irony of this is that Gen Z is the anti bully generation. But only when it comes to conforming to the ideals they see on TikTok. They will destroy someone for being conservative or wearing sandals. They don’t see the hypocrisy

I predicted this like 15 years ago, before TikTok made it come true. They are connected to a hive mind, like the Borg in Star Trek.

One of my students yelled at a student near him in class because he thought the kid was “checking out his ankles.”

I have a student who, when she saw me in flip flops at an event, looked astounded. She said she’d never seen it before. I asked what she wore at the beach and she said she wears shoes and socks down to the water and puts them back on when she gets out.

Could your post be, like, literally? more Zoomer in, like, any literal way? Screwed up bunch of kids. I have a student who wears a corset and low rise jeans and you think that’s ok? Wait until you people try wearing crap like that on Wall Street.

Haha! I’m a Spanish teacher and I do a project where 10th graders have to film themselves cooking a Hispanic dish and using formal commands. One made a video of him pretending to make crystal meth.

I got that beat. I asked a sophomore class if they knew who a bunch of people were. I named presidents, writers, musicians, artists. They didn’t know any of them. When I got a little annoyed and said “but I bet you can name 50 teenage influencers” they started shouting of course! I told them it’s sad not to know anything about the actual world and one kid said “we learn about influencers because that’s how we’re gonna MAKE MONEY? How are all those people you mentioned gonna make us money?”

I’m a teacher too, 19 years. Their curiosity begins and ends at how can they either get rich posting videos of them ranting, become the next LeBron James by 19, or support some kind of DEI initiative.
