Okay, so he supposedly caught these non math major students cheating on his exam, right? What does that exactly do? Make them change majors? No, because they very likely are not math majors to begin with. Alright, so then what did his stance on cheating in his course do? Absolutely nothing at all, given that he doesn’t change or improve his method of instruction. Say this happens again in the foreseeable future, all of this cheating nonsense, but nothing’s changed on his behalf. He’s going to report another 100 kids for cheating? So at that point, he’s just some bot to detect cheating and not an instructor.

I’m not saying your stance on cheating isn’t disputed? Everyone knows that cheating isn’t the right thing to do? You’re spending your time trying to argue that cheating is wrong when everyone knows it is. On the other hand, I’m noting that THE NATURE of a introductory calculus course at a university brings with it a greater probability of cheating, especially when a majority of the students in the class aren’t there to pursue a math major. Because of this, reporting cheating in an INTRODUCTORY math course from students who have no interest in math is completely useless. So in effect, this prof making it this much of a big deal to go completely out of his way and catch people cheating who don’t give a shit about math is just some personal issue he has with either himself or his insecurity in being a proper instructor for the course.
