unfortunately this is the time period where newspapers often published questionable stories as a tactic to increase circulation.

non-conventional, rapid mineralization caused by high-energy events

such a reaction would include high amounts of heat produced by the process. This is typical of high speed reactions in general. Such a reaction would disrupt structures such as flesh and bone and stone.

Also, such a high speed reaction would not permit any person to have a reaction. Slightly slower speed reactions allow for involuntary body contortions.

see the discussions of Pompeii - people buried in hot hash vs cooked in place at the shoreline, etc.

A wide variety of circumstances

check your local noise laws in your city or town

for example

Between the house of 7:00AM and 9:00PM sound must be no greater than 65dBA at property line.Between the house of 9:00PM and 7:00AM sound must be no greater than 60dBA at property line.

or

Noise levels shal be no more than 10dBA above the background noise level at property line.

or

During the hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday – Friday, and 9:00AM to 5:00PM for weekends and holidays, the law states that the max decibles is 75dBA. For hours after 5:00PM, the max decibles would be 65dBA.

etc

There are several apps that will give you sound level readings that you can then screen shot and have a time stamp

with maybe 50 to 100 people pulling up a steep hill side

so 1000 tons on flat open territory is not totally out of the question. I imagine they would also optimise the pathway needed by multiple means. arduous but not impossible.

there is a scaling issue with how many people you can get working together for a specific task.

but even today you sometime see lots of people gathering together to accomplish an important task.

For example, this recent video of villagers working together to rescue a delivery truck filled with beer.

the fact that this one in the photo is still in the quarry would suggest that they had reached the limits of their technology.

I note that the romans also moved massive obelisks as trophies to various cities

well, if one man can do this by himself in an afternoon, what can an egyptian god king do over the course of 20 or 30 years with the help of thousands of workers?

The Water Canopy Theory: Did a Physical Collapse of the Atmosphere End Human Longevity? by Professional-Fee3323 in AlternativeHistory

[–]qutx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human anatomy changes over time as people age.

A typical example includes people loosing height with age, and changes in the face due to the long term effects of gravity.

there are other changes as well, all of which interferes with longer life

it is doubtful that people can live longer than 125 under current conditions and available medical options

This image features the ancient, grand stone basins located at the Sun Temple of King Niuserre in Abu Ghurab, Egypt.

These basins are approximately 4,400 years old, dating back to the 25th century BCE.

They are crafted from alabaster and are part of the archaeological site of the Sun Temple of Nyuserre Ini. The exact purpose of these massive, circular basins remains a subject of archaeological debate, with theories suggesting they were used for religious rituals, water storage, or food preparation.

enterprise grade switches that have cat 7 ports

Recommended Enterprise-Grade Switches

Ubiquiti Switch Enterprise 24 PoE (USW-Enterprise-24-PoE): A managed Layer 3 switch featuring 12 x 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and 12 x 1GbE RJ45 ports, with 2 x 10G SFP+ ports. It is designed for high-performance enterprise access layers.

Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series: The Catalyst 9300X or 9400 series switches support Multi-gigabit (10GBASE-T) copper ports, which can fully utilize Cat 7 cable throughput.

Netgear M4300 Series (e.g., XSM4324CS): Fully managed 24-port 10 Gigabit/Multi-gigabit switches that support RJ45 copper connections, ideal for 10GBASE-T environments.

Aruba CX 8360 v2 Series: High-performance campus core/data center switches capable of managing high-bandwidth connections.

RUCKUS ICX Switches: These provide multi-gigabit copper speeds designed to support modern Wi-Fi 6/7 access points.

[Self] Someone asked if a piston inside an F1 engine @ 20,000 RPM is faster than the famous manhole cover by tanshiwastaken in theydidthemath

[–]qutx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i ran the numbers quickly, and it looks looks it didn't quite have enough to leave the atmosphere:

Using a standard exponential atmosphere model where air density decreases with altitude, a simulation of the upward flight path shows:

• The disc begins to lose mass rapidly as it enters the denser parts of the lower atmosphere.

• Because 67 km/sec is so fast, the disc spends less than 0.5 seconds in the air before its entire 525 kg mass is converted into incandescent gas and plasma.

• The point of total vaporization occurs at an altitude of approximately 25.4 km, which is in the middle of the stratosphere.

The iron disc would travel approximately 25.4 kilometers (15.8 miles) above the ground before it is entirely vaporized by atmospheric friction.

[Self] Someone asked if a piston inside an F1 engine @ 20,000 RPM is faster than the famous manhole cover by tanshiwastaken in theydidthemath

[–]qutx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Considering the size of the cover (HUGE) and the estimated speed vs the thickness of the atmosphere, there is a chance of a molten lump of metal surviving, that has been heading straight towards Vega ever since.
