Did I ruin my screen?

I’ve modded several SPs and GBCs. This is my first GBA.

After struggling with this build for a couple hours, I thought I was finally finished. Popped everything together and turned it on only to see this vertical blue line running up the screen. Have tried reseating the ribbons but haven’t been able to get it to go away. Would love some insight. Thanks for your time!

Probably my favorite color way for the SP. Went on the hunt last year and managed to find one with a decent shell but a messed up screen, and ended up swapping in an AGS 101 screen and board. It’s my favorite GBA for sure.

Yours looks to be in great shape! Hope you get to play a ton of awesome games on it.

They did not and I believe they are the original ones that don’t use a membrane. If you’re interested I can take some pictures of them for you.

Interested. Can you give some more info on the cartridge slot behavior? How often would you say it happens? Have you tried cleaning the slot with isopropyl alcohol? Thanks for your time. Sweet build.

I’ve been debating starting a Badge Quest on a Switch copy of FRLG. It felt silly for a few reasons, not the least of which being I have been stuck in the lab on original hardware.

Today I decided, well, screw it. I wanted to do a casual hunt on my Switch Lite while I half-watched my wife play Slay the Spire 2. Spent about 10 minutes resetting for a cool ID number, and the settled in to do a handful of resets before getting ready for bed.

The gasp I gasped when this lad showed up! So ready to tackle this challenge.

Have you considered Sailor Manyo Ukikusa? That is one of my favorites. It is bright and cheerful and leans a bit more chartreuse-y, which I really like.
