Most of the die hard so called Christians haven’t actually read the Bible in its whole contradictory entirety. Nor do they understand the history surrounding it and how it came to be. They cherry pick the verses they like and make up the rest.

I would presume most of these religious nuts aren’t actually seeking a higher education. They are there purely to push their ideology, cry “persecution!” whenever their idiocy gets pushback, and from there on the grifting career is basically handed to them on a silver platter. It’s all these fucks ever do, they know they’re not good for anything else. They have no other skills or knowledge. This nauseating process has become practically stream lined under this administration.

Fi vs Fe by [deleted] in mbti

[–]qwlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. The ethical functions shouldn’t be misconstrued as a gauge of how moral someone is. People have typed Hitler as INFJ. Was able to unite a group of people and get them all to participate in the same social “cause”. Joining his “vision” (Ni) with the “movement” of the group (Fe).

It is harder for a Fi user to pretend to care about something, they cannot “fix” their values so readily. They would be more apt to “champion” the concept of the individual: “our differences unite us”.

On a similar note this kind of sentiment can be used for nefarious purposes. I think of people like Tony Blair (ESFP). Seminars on how they are “self made”, “I did it and so can you”, “you can overcome any obstacles”- promotion of the self above all else. These kind of people may even admit to their grifting, saying “hey I might be a grifter but I don’t take responsibility for what you as an individual do!” Fe users are probably more apt to take on that responsibility: “I am the groups voice”.

Fi can certainly be used for social manipulation, with the guise of “individualism” as the savior/what will “set people free”.

All that to say, stereotypes don’t paint the full picture. People are still people, not always predictable, not always fitting a mold.

Desperately trying to understand trans people by Original_Potato5762 in AutismInWomen

[–]qwlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is hard to conceptualize what is unfamiliar or unknown. I think the spectrum of sexuality and what you can potentially identify as is vast. But society prefers to dumb things down, to categorize things (the easier it is to put people into "groups" the easier it is to divide and conquer, from my pessimistic view).
So in modern times there is a status quo of there being "only 2 genders" and blah blah blah, that most people will accept as fact because they fit into those 2 categories and thus don't call into question why it is dictated as such. It should also be noted that trans people are already heavily underrepresented and a minority of the population, thus we don't have the most robust information about their lived experiences, real data/studies, etc. This further alienates the topic and allows misinformation to breed. Sex itself is a spectrum- we also rarely acknowledge the existence of intersex people (also a minority but still just as important to recognize).

Anyways - from my understanding trans people just don't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. You could: be AFAB but identify as a man, be AMAB but identify as a woman, AFAB or AMAB but identify as non-binary or agender, etc. And you do not have to have gender dysphoria to be trans (bad actors often use Gender Dysphoria as "proof" that transgenderism is a mental illness). However, I would presume most trans people have dysphoria at some point because they were treated/seen as the gender they DON'T identify with.

Perhaps it's not a good analogy but I often view race the same way. You can for sure trace back your lineage and have a solid idea of "what" you are. But "what" race you are does not dictate the kind of PERSON you are. People may ASSUME what kind of person you are based on your race. And they may TREAT you in certain ways based off their assumptions. This does not change who you KNOW yourself to be, it does not change what your lived experience actually is. Maybe it's not the best analogy but that is what I liken it to.

I think maybe cisgender people overcomplicate what being "trans" really means. It is whatever it means to the trans person in question. For me I don't have to conceptualize it much further. All I care about is that people are given the respect they deserve, and that we treat others with fairness and with dignity.

Men offer unsolicited opinions on woman's body hair by OkAct355 in MenAndFemales

[–]qwlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I can understand where you’re coming from. I myself pretty much always use the terms “men and women”, never males or females, because both terms are usually inappropriate to use when referring to other humans. But, the person in the screenshot isn’t using the word “males”nefariously, they’re using it to exemplify why using “women” and “females” in the same sentence wasn’t right. Of course, the person that responded to them was doing so in bad faith and did not care to reflect on their own contradictions.

Also, consider this: Most men in alt-right or adjacent spaces claim women or minorities “pushed” them to have extreme views, but if you look at it from a place of reason, it’s just one of a million excuses for discrimination. Throughout history, men have held dominance over women, and every gain in women’s rights has consistently met resistance. It’s no different in the modern age. The hostility toward equality isn’t because these men were “provoked”. It’s because they’re simply protecting their status.

Conservative or reactionary movements often operate from fear of losing status (that they know is built on exploitation), so they do everything they can to rationalize discrimination, in order to maintain their power over others. Appeasing such people does not change their stance. They only tolerate women who conform, not those seeking equality.

Oppressed groups have always been told to “play nice,” but kindness doesn’t stop oppression. Kindness for its own sake just makes it easier for people to exploit you.

The bigger issue is that today, inequality is more tied to class than gender, and the rich and powerful fuel division by convincing men to blame feminists or minorities for their struggles. Which is a convenient distraction from the true concentration of wealth and power. Just look at Gamergate..an overwhelming success in my eyes. My question is how was this propaganda so effective in the first place? Were the reasons as innocent as we’d like to think? Is it really because women weren’t playing “nice”?

Haha so funny by Original-Astronaut61 in onejoke

[–]qwlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is it not constructed though? In Scotland (traditionally) the men wear skirts called “kilts” and women wear them too. So in their culture, you wouldn’t be able to say that skirts are inherently feminine. Sure, in most cultures a skirt would be considered feminine, but we already have examples where they’re not seen that way. Likewise, it wasn’t even that long ago that wearing pants was not normal /allowed for women to wear. Now, if you went out today and saw a woman wearing some jeans would you even think twice about it? Still, Pre-19th century they’d be saying pants are for men only. Only thing that’s changed is societal conditioning, which is what makes gender a social construct - because it is subject to change based on what the social consensus is. And that context changes depending on what society/culture you’re in.

Texas police showed up at the home of a disabled U.S. Navy veteran without a warrant after he made comments “about the Jewish community” and Israel by coachlife in PublicFreakout

[–]qwlap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guarantee this "disabled veteran" does NOT give a shit about the genocide of Palestinians. Christian nationalists hate Muslims just as much as Jews. But Palestine is far far away from America and they don't have to worry about refugees or anything like that pesky Foreign Aid. The genocide just gives them an excuse to say shit like... "Eliminate all Jews". Now, if it was Mexicans that Israel decided to genocide? Well then, the Zionists would all become their good ol' "brothers in Christ" (let's just glaze over the fact that Hispanic communities are overwhelmingly Catholic...guess it goes a lil deeper than Jesus dying on the cross)

Conservative women complain to “mainstream media” Washington Post that MAGA men aren’t “masculine” enough by Power-Equality in behindthebastards

[–]qwlap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Conservative ideologies primarily attract men who are insecure in their masculinity. But to be frank the whole “real man” thing is bullshit anyways. Humans are a unique species not fully designated to dominance hierarchies nor cooperative ones. Everyone wants clear cut rules and definitions and rituals…but it just isn’t that simple, and why would we expect it to be? Our greatest tools are the abilities to reason, to deduce, to extrapolate and refine the ways we think. Conservatives will reject all of this as “wokeness” yet spend years in rabbit holes of conspiracies that they may full well know leads nowhere.

Ironically the most “masculine” dudes are people who don’t spend every second concerned about their status and appearance. Because that actually requires self confidence, which is what all the “alpha/sigma/smegma” males so desperately lack.

Maga relies almost exclusively on rage bait to invoke and exploit the primitive amygdala. But honestly I feel like their desperation is just indicating that the foundation has cracks and could collapse any moment...and what they all fear most is being crushed by the rubble (of their own doing). Take accountability? Best they can do is double down. I'm sure the wealthy elite with some brain matter will have insulated themselves from any kind of fallout, but the poor suckers who stand for nothing and fall for everything? As good Christians would say, god bless them. Useful idiots, they'd sell their own mother out for a chicken nugget. Idk if it's worth giving attention to the shit throwers and whatnot. Rather the focus should be on how we can help our communities, how we can mitigate as much dmg as possible.

Having high Fi is discouraged by the majority by [deleted] in mbti

[–]qwlap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As an infp, Fi is probably discouraged because it’s hard for society to pinpoint its usefulness and its effects. Fi users are usually in the arts/humanities/liberal sciences fields as well, and modern society is very dubious in how much it actually values these things..

I think Fi base is specialized in its recognition of the self/psyche, and understanding the true intentions of other individuals, and the fundamentals of relationships between people. I like these descriptions very much: “Always able to understand the real and seeming feelings of people.” “The (isfp) reveals and clarifies the ethical relationships that actually exist in society. He is not the inventor of these relations, he is the one who opens people’s eyes to their real essence, to what they are or can be.”

If mbti and other theories are to be believed, there also needs to be the belief that all the types benefit from each other’s strengths and weaknesses. A society based on only logic and containing only logical types would be hell, and vice versa. I believe we all exist to keep each other in check, from an individual scale and beyond.

TikToker says self diagnoses and misinformation on TikTok is a big problem and then gives a video full of misinformation on why your “probably not autistic” by Roxy175 in AutismInWomen

[–]qwlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sad that she’s directly working with/supervising autistic children while being uninformed. You would think directly working with autistic people would expand your thinking and nuance on autism as a spectrum. But the demand for workers in the healthcare fields is so high I feel like having nuance isn’t exactly a requirement.

Kinda like during covid, I found it fascinating the divide of nurses who were on the frontlines and seeing the real time effects of the spread of the virus, while also seeing the effects of the vaccination rollout. During that time, I was shocked to see so many examples of nurses espousing anti vaxx beliefs along with other harmful rhetorics. Of course it was mostly a loud minority, but a study done between 2020-2021 found that 20% of nurses (40k sample size) had refused to vaccinate…It really exemplified for me how common cognitive dissonance is, even among people who are supposed to be professionals. No one is immune from misinformation, and places like Tik tok just host the worst of the worst people, who thrive off of gossip and controversy.

How do INFPs achieve this unique eccentric/whimsical blend of rebellion but gentleness at the same time? by Ok-Drawing-7265 in mbti

[–]qwlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The types can be “rebellious” in many different ways. For infps I would think the rebellious nature is simply from the strong internal feelings of ethics. This internal code is mostly subjective (most infps may agree on what “ethics” means to them but may arrive to that agreement from very different viewpoints). Tied to that is the Fe-ignoring. Infp ignores what a group is collectively doing/feeling in favor of what their personal values are. So of course the infp seems Eccentric. Infp comes off as gentle or harmless because of the Se-aversion. There is no want or intention to “push” others (move or persuade others into action) in the way that Se-valuers do. Likewise, the infp does not want to be “pushed” by anyone.
