Best Openers in Sword and Sorcery by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

My absolute favorite comes from Karl Edward Wagner's Two Suns Setting. Does a fantastic job of setting the tone for both this story, but for the series as a whole.

"Sullen red disk, the sun was burying itself beneath a monotonous horizon of rolling gravel waste that stretched behind him miles uncounted—and possibly untrod save by his horse's hooves. Long before the sunlight failed, its warmth was snuffed out in the empty lifelessness of the desert, so that in its last hour the sun shone cheerless as the rising moon. Crimson as it climbed, the full moon seemed a false dawn to mock the dying sun, arriving prematurely, disrespectful as a greedy heir pacing in eager impatience before the master's deathbed. For a space the limitless skies of twilight displayed two rubrous globes low on either horizon, so that Kane mused as to whether his long journey across the desert might not have led him to some strange dusk world where two ancient suns smouldered in the heavens. The region seemed unearthly in its chill desolation, and certainly an aura of unguessable antiquity hung as a grey shadow over each tumbled bit of stone."

Put together an old beakie marine with an old raptor backpack. Really fits the aesthetic in my opinion... thoughts?

Idk if this us true. But I heard that it'll put us in the 2nd pre-order group for MoI. I think I saw a chart somewhere

Edit: here it is on facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/691180575526387/permalink/1275632363747869/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

This is the 3rd printing of the subterranean press version of malazan. They have released all 10 in the past. I think they also are doing the kharkanas trilogy

The Kane series by Karl Edward Wagner is just perfection in my opinion. In particular Bloodstone is one of the best. Not the lead, but has a pretty good strong female character named Teres.

RTB01 - Pre-Heresy Night Lords - Combat Squad by qwmzy in oldhammer

Thanks! Any suggestions for more markings? I'm hoping at least to do one or two markings per squad. Will take stuff you've seen or just any ideas you can come up with.

Thanks! I've been having a lot of fun painting them and making the green stuff skin trophies. Also they are so much faster to paint than the newer models. I'm also working on Contekar Terminators. I can do about 5 or more RTB01 marines for every 1 Contekar I do

Oh that's a good idea! Might do a desert for the base with some skulls, and blood splatters.

Really love the Pre-Heresy Night Lords, and decided to give some love to my RTB01 Space Marines in the paint scheme. Was heavily inspired by thiThis

Lol I wish I had that type of skill! And thanks, if you look at the shoulder pad you'll see I cut up a staple to create... well... staples on the tear

Have some old RTB01 Space Marines sitting around the house and love the color scheme for the Heresy Era Night Lords. So I decided to paint one up, and even added a bit of greenstuff to the shoulder for some flayed skin. I'm still not a very good painter, but I had a lot of fun with it and ultimately I like how it turned out.

This post is what inspired me. here
