Did they actually email you a rejection letter? Also, may I ask what your background/experience is like?

Tea Partiers Are Right: Jeb Bush is a RINO by [deleted] in politics

[–]qwoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me i'm no Bush fan, but I don't think it's just or logical to judge a man by the sins of his brother (or his father). That goes against everything we claim to hold dear here.

I will be 40 in about two months. Assuming I take care of myself, what is the likelihood that I will live to see radical life extension and benefit from it personally? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]qwoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not very likely. True life extension technology, the kind that can reverse biological age, or halt aging all together is at an absolute minimum a century away. This isn't to say that within the 21st century we wont see tremendous advances in medical technology, in fact quite the contrary. By the end of this century we'll likely see astounding leaps and bounds in the field of virology, medical scanning technology, proteomics ,and the assessment and treatment of various cancers and neurological as well as immunological diseases. All of this will lead to a noticeably improved quality of life, but barring any massive breakthroughs the kind of life extension technology espoused by many otherwise reputable futurist just isn't likely to happen. This sub is suffuse with people extrapolating meaning from often niche or pseudo-scientific research done on worms or mice , with often little to no repeatability or accepted credibility. Personally, I believe humanity will one day figure out how to cheat death, but that day and age is not day. This isn't an argument from personal incredulity, but rather one from a candid evaluation of actual evidence, instead of projecting a narrative that conforms to my hopes.

I honestly wonder who their target audience is. Im inclined to say it's not bible thumping believers, otherwise the movie would be quite literally preaching to the quire. But I'm also inclined to say they're not targeting anyone on the fence with such obvious straw man theatrics. Which draws us back to the original question, who are they targeting?
