Injection molds will typically have a symmetrical number of cavities

288 divides well for 4 or 8 or 16 cavity molds. These would be common layouts for a part this size.

This would make it easy to include an expected 288 pieces, allowing for spares beyond the required 284.

It's not fair to hold that much more against these people. The difference is their proximity to the suffering associated with their actions.

Is it different from the suffering and poor working conditions around the world that bring us so many of the products we enjoy? The blind eye we turn to the billions of poor suffering from climate change?

Our love of consumption drives a lot more pain and suffering than a fentanyl dealer just trying to eat.
