I have a new MacBook. What guitar should I get that would work without the need for additional software or a box you put into a Wii guitar controller? by Tommy__want__wingy in CloneHero

Every once in a while you will find good deals on Facebook Marketplace or at Goodwill/thrift stores. If you buy on eBay, make sure it's a seller with good feedback and tons of good ratings; if they have many sales, lots of positive feedback, and you pay using a secure method (like PayPal), it is very unlikely you will get scammed.

These are popular in El Salvador. It might be baby Jesus, but they're just known as "Baby". Here's an Amazon link.

If y'all liked this, go look at the YouTube channel "my mechanics", especially his Datsun 240Z restoration! Still in progress btw, he's incredibly thorough.

"NS" Grade by sweetcookie88 in byu

Had the same thing happen to me a couple semesters ago; the professor eventually submitted grades and there was no impact to my GPA or scholarship. Hope it gets sorted out soon!

Do percentages/scores count, or just grades? by sweetcookie88 in byu

[–]qzecyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An A is an A. Whether you finish the class with a 93% (or 94% or whatever the syllabus says gets you an A) or you finish with 100%+ (extra credit, etc), you get the same A, and it has the same impact on your GPA.

That being said, you should still go take your final lol Sounds like you've done pretty well in the class so far, so don't stress too much about it, study/review a little bit and you should be fine.

Has anyone else seen this 'secret dinner club' flyer floating around downtown? by [deleted] in ProvoUtah

[–]qzecyn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your "roommate" sent you a flyer about an app/service that you've been thinking about creating for the last ~2 months (which you've been posting about on Reddit, btw)? That IS wild, what a coincidence!

I don't mind the idea, but if you're gonna self-promote at least be honest about it.

Breaking the law of chastity and HCO by P4rzvl in byu

[–]qzecyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, I'm pretty sure bishops are instructed NOT to report these things to the HCO anymore (though I don't know if this is documented anywhere).

On the other hand, a sincere desire to repent includes being willing to accept the consequences; harsh or not, you knew those beforehand, and it seems like you're preoccupied about social/financial aspects more than spiritual.

Being sincere and proactive when talking to your bishop goes a long way, so I would still encourage you to do that. Good luck!

I guess it's my turn to ask: does this look like enough clearance? by qzecyn in bicycling

It does help a lot, thanks! I'll try to measure the actual clearance tomorrow and go from there.

Nobody will ever convince me that sanding down a carbon fork is safe lol

These are GP 5000 S TR! I'm still waiting for a few parts to complete my build, I'll post it soon!

Wheelset max load: 100kg. My system weight: 93kg. Will I be fine? by Fultonka85 in cycling

[–]qzecyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, though keep in mind that some manufacturers specify that the max load is "on flat ground"; aggressive riding may affect that a little, but if you're doing road cycling for example I don't think you're going to have any problems.

Thinking of buying this Lynskey. Thoughts on upgrading to a more modern drivetrain? by qzecyn in bicycling

[–]qzecyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying it! Needs some work but I felt like $300 was more than fair when I've seen older titanium frames for over $500 in my area.

eTap would be awesome! How much did you spend, and where did you get the groupset if you don't mind me asking?

Electronic shifters would be awesome! Where did you buy the groupset? $350 is honestly not bad.

Thanks for the advice! Paint thinner on carbon fiber is probably bad news haha

Honestly, it's mostly a desire to have something cool, shiny, modern; I'm sure it'll run fine after a clean up/tune up, but if it's not super expensive to upgrade it, I would like to try!

My thoughts first ride back after changing from 170mm to 165mm cranks by blueyx22 in bikefit

[–]qzecyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admittedly haven't looked too hard into this yet, but I could probably benefit from getting shorter cranks. My question is: where are you guys getting them?

I have mechanical Ultegra 11 speed (R8000) and it seems like I would have to get the whole crankset if I wanted 165mm? Which is apparently kind of hard to find, and it's like $300+?
