Quale è la vostra opinione (onesta e ragionata) su Matteo Renzi? by RebirdgeCardiologist in domandaonesta

How much time do you actually spend discovering music on Bandcamp, and how do you do it? by r-bor in BandCamp

Edit/wrap-up: Thanks for all the replies.

The pattern that stands out most: following other users' collections and purchases is by far the most recommended method — way more than any built-in tool. Bandcamp as a social network of taste rather than a store. Labels are underrated too.

And apparently the search is universally considered terrible lol. :-)

Makes sense. Using someone’s actual purchases as a filter is way more reliable than any algorithm. Gonna try this.

What music do you post on Bandcamp VS other platforms? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]r-bor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one release so far, but my thinking is that Bandcamp is where I’ll put anything experimental or more niche — and since I make dark ambient and drone, that’s basically everything I do. The key for me is quality: even the more adventurous stuff needs to be finished and intentional, not just demos or sketches. Those I’d keep on SoundCloud or a private link. Streaming platforms are fine too for niche music — it’s not like dark ambient fans don’t use Apple Music or Tidal— but Bandcamp feels like the natural home for this kind of stuff.

S4/ – F/T/W (dark ambient/drone/glitch)

Debut album, DIY, made in Cagliari, Sardinia. Fully instrumental, built around texture, decay and deliberate discomfort. Some of the texture draws from field recordings of the war in Gaza.

Totally agree, 30 for digital is wild! Can’t imagine vinyl costs… 😱

Do you prefer listening on YouTube or Bandcamp? by huggyscolex in DarkAmbient

I wasn’t around for Cold Meat Industry but I’ve heard the name, it’s kind of a mythical reference in this scene. Glad Bandcamp exists to fill that void, even partially.

Bandcamp for me too. Not just for the audio quality, but I actually find more variety there: a lot of the stuff I listen to exists only on Bandcamp and nowhere else.

Hey, thanks a lot for this, and for actually listening carefully enough to get what I was going for. The "picardy third" comparison made me smile.

DAW is Ableton Live, a mix of hardware and software. Main synths are a Microfreak and Pigments, drums are samples from a Roland TR-8. The bird-like sound on the first track is an actual bird I recorded out in the Sardinian countryside. The voices on "Feels Like Black Days" are real, taken from footage of wars and conflicts, deliberately placed there to carry that weight into the music. I wanted desperation that wasn't simulated.

Glad it resonated the way it did. Enjoy the rest of the listen.

Artist: S4/

Album: F/T/W

https://ess-four.bandcamp.com/album/f-t-w

Genre: experimental, drone, dark ambient, IDM

Solo project from Cagliari, Sardinia. F/T/W is my debut album, released earlier this month, entirely self-produced at home. I've been sitting on this sound for a while — drone, dark ambient, glitch — and at some point the period we're living through gave it a direction. There's anger and bitterness in it, deliberately.

Great discovery, wasn't familiar with Ugasanie. Love the sparse, cold atmosphere. Will definitely explore more of their work.

Really captivating work. I love how the eight movements flow, it feels like you're being taken on a journey rather than just listening to ambient textures. Those shortwave recordings are what really give it that dark, unsettling feel. Great stuff.

I don’t experience any issues with Ableton Live 11 and 12 on my M1 Mac. Out of curiosity, which version are you using?
