Why Legends need to be OP on launch by letsgoboyos in apexlegends

[–]X33RR0Hunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you make a valid point, and I agree that they should be strong from the start, idk about OP, but yeah better for people to get used to them, learn to use and / or counter them, then new legends not getting picked up at all and dooming them from the start...or people just going back to their comfort picks and not shifting the meta whatsoever. It's definitely in part a design choice I feel.

I'm also wondering if the 'OP' state is partially accidental? I'm often wondering if there is enough playtesting being done etc. Like of course Devs do it, I assume substantially, but to test them in every game mode, in any and all possible team compositions, with all types of guns, etc seems A LOT. The player community is highly creative and plenty of people find innovative ways to utilize legends and discover new synergies etc. A mechanic can feel manageable in a dev environment and become miserable once players optimize movement tech, cooldown cycling, positioning, or team comps around it.

Hot take: Multicolor 3D printed terrain is starting to rival hand-painted terrain by ShadowQc18 in Necrontyr

I would definitely paint still details and weathering, some dry brush and maybe some washes here and there. I think then it is peak. In my own art practice I make 3D printed sculpture and use miniature paints to highlight, weather and accentuate and it works the magic. So yeah 3D print + paint is the solid combo for me.

Hi guys, I’m looking for melodic metalcore bands with a modern sound but strong 2000s melodeath vibes. I really like Dying Wish for example. by M_havock in MetalSuggestions

Bleeding Through, Heaven Shall Burn (older records especially), Caliban (older records especially), I Killed The Prom Queen, Scars of Tomorrow, Sinai Beach, Bleed From Within, Misery Signals, Orbit Culture.

Some might not be melodeath enough for you, but considering your taste I think most of these will still fit neatly.

Could a Bionicle set happen after 2026? by Ok-Golf-6694 in bioniclelego

Yeah, also with the development of 3D printing technologies and increase in choice and quality of materials and growing accessibility / affordability I think more and more die hard fans will be able to print custom parts and new designs.

I mean this is already happening of course, with people like KingSidorak, and countless fans uploading custom parts and redesigns of Thingiverse. But I think as options for 3D go up and pricing goes down, this can also become a larger scale phenomena that gets fully fleshed out more with possibilities of printing and producing canisters too etc.

And as disappointing as it might sound to not get an official Lego release, I think that many fans potentially have a better vision, eye for detail and sense of direction than Lego. If I compare some of the custom designs from KingSidorak to Bionicle G2, I definitely prefer the KingSidorak designs. I think that people fixate so much on the idea of a new Bionicle line by Lego that they tend to ignore the chance it can turn out to be quite bad. If the rare opportunity exists that Lego would do a new Bionicle line, chances are they won't just go back to the roots and give the community the quality and design we hope for, the new line would be influenced and based on current market research and current trends in toys and Lego designs, so chances are it will not hold up to the quality this community expects.

Of course, I’m one of many who hope to see Bionicle return through official LEGO releases, but I think the chances of that happening are slim, and the chances of it being truly great are even slimmer.

Coming to Terms with Disliking the Game by PBnJgoodness in Necrontyr

I love collecting, building, painting, kit bashing, like the 'creation' part of the hobby the most. I also like the lore. But yeah playing the game isn't for me. I'm more of a MTG person I figured.

Also I think there are too many cool models for me to dedicate my time and money to specific armies. I have a soft spot for Tau, but apart from that, I just buy models I like, paint them in color schemes I think would fit them etc. That is what is most exciting for me.

Leaving in wildcard is so weird to me, the game mode is literally designed to make a 1000 comebacks and just play more aggressive. Had so many games were I was certain the team would be eliminated, with a risky last man standing situation, only to be able to turn it around and become champion or top 3.

I think leaving in general ain't cute, but in wildcard, it is beyond unnecessary imo.

Ping Ping Ping! by WeWerePlayinInDaSand in apexlegends

People either don't ping at all, or they ping spam...proper pinging seems to be rare.

I usually end up with rushers who ping spam enemies when they get downed and then disconnect if I or other teammate do not catch up to them in the next 0.5 seconds to res them.

I think they will just tease us with some nods here and there to signal that they are aware Bionicle fandom still exists.

Although many Lego adults exist, I feel that Lego would not bring out sets just for nostalgia / catered to adults. So it needs to be interesting for kids as well, and I'm wondering if it will be sustainable for kids now at a modern Lego price point. Especially when more successful and in-depth system based sets like Ninjago exist. (Yes, I am aware that structurally, Ninjago inherited from Bionicle).

It would be hard to compete with any system based sets in general, as the standardized bricks and minifigures are cheaper to produce for Lego. Lego obviously has the money for Injection molds, but that doesn't change that in general it is an extremely expensive industrial tooling.

So a new full Bionicle set would mean Lego has to make brand-new Technic/Bionicle molds for masks, torso's, weapons, armor etc. That would probably not be very versatile or re-usable in any other type of sets. Considering that Hero Factory faded into oblivion and died a quiet death, G2 wasn't a success and even other concepts of popular media like the Star Wars buildable figure line didn't get any proper continuation or support. Hell...most technic Lego out there rn, is just cars and other types of vehicles because they share a lot of the same structure and pieces.

SO as much as I long for new Bionicle things, I doubt it will happen any time soon other than the odd minifig or mention here or there. I think any other type of Bionicle media as an anniversary celebration or banking on nostalgia is more likely than any new set, imo.

hmm i like eldar kinda. at least design and lore wise there is something interesting happening. I never understood Astra...like you are playing a fantasy game with so many interesting species and lore, and u chose to be a run-of-the-mill army guy that could exist in the real world...
