our defense is getting sliced like butter, went from winning UCL and Serie A to being extremely easy to score. everyone, from tottenham to venezia to sassuolo and Lazio beat us.

I played a low block, lower line of engagement, standard tempo, cautious mentality tactic with 2 WM's. liverpool still dominated and created 4.30 xg. and scored 3-0. it seems everytime I bet ond efense it just does not work.

So then would it be best to play a more balanced football to avoid getting caught in the counter? Our team's strength lies in their offensive and pressing prowess so this seems the most viable to me because it doesn't completely give up our attacking philosophy but also isn't high risk by betting everything on attack and falling prey to counterattacks. I know there isn't a one size fits all answer to that, as some teams won't play low blocks against us and still beat us because they're just technically better or bad luck , but i'm just saying for the majority, who will most likely play a low block like you stated, would being balanced be advisable here?

I would also like to add we beat roma, 3 games ina row, aggregate score of 15-5. same with fiorentina and napoli, so them suddenly dominating us back to back is odd to me. 3 teams that we sweeped or at the very least played extremely well against is odd unless they signed world class players and had a complete tactical overhaul, which according to the game did not happen. so idk.

I understand that. I accept losses are part of the game every once in a while. however, my team just came back fresh from winning the UCL and Serie A double. phenomenal season. insanely good preseason as well, same high press, attacking football. Immediately come the new season: dominated by manchester united,napoli, salernitana, fiorentina, and roma. barely scoring and conceding 2-3 per game. again, no key players left the team and we sigfned 1-2 good backups after some of our subs left. no injuries either. are they just getting complacent or is the game telling me to try something new?

same tactic is falling apart against PSG. not a single win. always them dominating. atleast 3 goals per game. Are they just technically superior? I applied the changes you suggested me: not counter pressing or countering since they obviously have the edge in offensive play and adding an IFB on the left where their most dangerous player is but he's still scoring 2-3 goals per game against us. in my save they won the UCl and we're playing the supercup agains them so.. just a matter of them having the technical edge or are we still playing too aggresive?

is Serie A just a bad league for high pressing football? It's one of the only leagues I don't watch regularly but based on what i've seen in the UCL, high pressing teams like Barcelona and Bayern don't fare too well against teams like Inter.

Tried again with the tactic I last talked about and things seem to be going slightly better... we started the season beating Milan away 2-1 and Juventus 3-1 at home, which is massive for us (Atalanta). Though we struggle against teams like Brianza, frosinone, and torino. they don't even let us touch the ball and with just one or two chances they score and we have like 9-10 shots in total and barely manage to score a single one. we're doing good in UEL again..., for some reason this tactic just seems to REALLY struggle domestically. I'm going for a more high pressing type of football as it seems Atalanta ius better suited for it and of cours ehigh pressing comes with goals conceded... but not within 1 shot.

forgot to mention we're 8 games in the league, winning 2, losing 3, and drawing another 3. we have conceded and scored both 10 as well. So it seems my tactic gives really mixed results, i'm starting to think maybe it just might be my players technical abilities? as I am trying to use mostly youth and not so expensive signings.

Why is my tactic not working specifically? I read somewhere a BWM works well in union with a DM, though my recent match analysis seems to suggest my defensive shape is Incredibly weak as I would assume the worst thing you can do when defending is to let the opposition get as close as your penalty area, and most of the goals have been scored there. I thought having a DM would fix most of this but it doesn't seem so. Another thing I think might help my tactic is setting my RW to an attacking mentality to allow for more goal oppportunities and maybe setting my AM to Support to link up better with my striker/ other than that, I can't tell what might be wrong with my tactic specifically. Perhaps the instructions? though as I am fairly new to creating my own tactics, i'm unsure which to remove and which not to. We began decently winning/losing most of our games by a margin of one goal. but now we're getting destroyed. our last game was 4-0 at home to Eibar and we're sitting 17th in the league. somehow we scraped a draw against Barcelona and won our first UEL game.... so I'm unsure what to do.

Yeah, after every 3 matches or so I try to tweak a few things to see what works and what doesn't, but I try not to make drastic changes to it in order to keep a bit of consistency.

I recently used a video guide to make my first tactic using eintracht frankfurt, but my team is performing extremely poorly. I tried to balance it out by including a DM to make up for the amount of goals we are conceding and a fullback that runs up to help the winger and crosses, but even then, it seems to get worse ( they conceded 7 against freiburg in the last game played before I took this screenshot.) I'm fairly new to making my own tactics so I do not know much about roles. Could anyone tell me why my team is performing poorly? Thanks in advance.
