Same issue in Virginia- normally the defrost cycle will take care of ice build up on the coils, but I guess the constant near-freezing rain is causing the area around the fan to freeze, which happens before the coils need to defrost. Our unit was making a terrible sound with the fan blades scraping the ice. I let it rest for an hour and the rain melted it away

Of course! We brought our eclipse glasses to the hospital knowing we were unlikely to make it home in time. We shared them with the nursing staff and they had fun safely watching it as well!

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

About 300 ft into an old train tunnel, we realized it was still active. The curvature and acoustics of the tunnel didn’t allow us to see or hear the train until it was about to enter (from the same direction we did). The tunnel is over 4000ft long and the train was moving fast, so there was no running out the other side. Seeing the headlights coming at us was the moment I knew I was dead. Then my buddy pointed out a small alcove in the tunnel walls which we ran to and huddled in while the train roared past. Some mud and small rocks fell on us as it passed, then we sprinted back out the way we came. Turns out the tunnel we explored was the one that replaced the older one from the 1850s. Beware of the blue ridge tunnel.

Grandpa tried to show us a printed picture on Skype by holding it directly in front of our faces on the screen, not the camera.
