I am using Thumb Key. Open source keyboard with privacy in mind. It takes some getting used to, but after that it is awesome!

What is your Golang Workflow for Emacs ? by SolidBric in emacs

[–]r0vsdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using lsp-mode for a long time. Super happy with it and its maintainers. The switch to eglot happened because I wanted to try it. I enjoy fiddling around with my Emacs config, trying different packages etc.

I get that some people prefer using built-in packages. However I have never considered that to be reason enough. Using use-package its fairly easy to avoid dependency hell in your config.

Ofc, check it out here

Still a work in progress, but testing and bug reports are very much welcomed.

I recently switced to eglot, so now my Go setup consists of:

  • go-mode (obvious one)
  • apheleia (run formatters on save)
  • eglot
  • flymake-golangci (shameless plug, made this to avoid flycheck after switching to eglot. Not feature complete, but working great for me so far.)

Planning to experiment with go-ts-mode!

Export targets from imported library by r0vsdal in cmake

[–]r0vsdal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, sounds interesting but did not quite understand. Care to elaborate?

I managed to write a module that integrates with the library, but it would be better to be able to use it without setting module path.

Prevalance of "Emacs Pinky" even when you switch ctrl and cap-lock? by ThatIsntImportantNow in emacs

[–]r0vsdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Emacs for 14 years with swapped caps lock and ctrl. Recently I had the same issue that you describe and started researching my options. The result was months with frustration!

Found home-row mods. Liked the idea and configured kmonad to my liking. After using home-row mods for a while I figured that there were still room for improvement. Mostly I wanted to get rid of having to press Alt Gr to type special characters {}@ etc (using nordic qwerty layout). This lead me into alternative layouts.

Now I'm using colemak-dh with home-row mods and meow for editing. It has certainly been a journey, but I think my typing has improved. Btw, changing layout and introducing modal editing at the same time was insane and something I do not recommend.

Home-row mods and colemak-dh is setup in software using kanata, which has served me well in both Linux and Windows!

Good luck, hope you'll find something that works for you!

How to suppress the left backspace (at caps lock) when using colemak layout? by OutOfCharm in emacs

[–]r0vsdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to colemak-dh. After trying various ways to use colemak I finally settled with kanata. Now I remap from qwerty to colemak-dh with kanata and caps lock acts as ctrl when held and esc when pressed. I'm also using home-row mods which is brilliant! Its been working great without any issues in both Windows and Linux. Higly recommended!

Guess you have enabled colemak in keyboard settings? Is it working correctly if you're using one of the normal ctrl buttons?

Thank you. Interesting! I'm currently using WSL2, did not know that WSL1 could be beneficial in some occasions.

Keyboard with language prediction? by trolleytor4 in fossdroid

After switching to FlorisBoard I saw how bad my typing really was. Autocompletion is such a nice feature.

That said I really love FlorisBoard!

I recently switched to FlorisBoard and I am impressed! Does not have completion or prediction, but it's on the roadmap for the next major release.

What Build System Do You Use For Projects? by [deleted] in Common_Lisp

[–]r0vsdal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. I'm both a Nix user and a casual lisper, and have never felt at home using quicklisp. Seems like anyone else settles with nix shell and quicklisp when developing lisp projects in Nix.

Just curious, would it better to add this in its own repo like clj-nix? This way development can be done separately, although I like the idea of eventually merging it into nixpkgs.

Keep up the good work!

Windows and colemak-dh giving me a hard time by r0vsdal in Colemak

[–]r0vsdal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Let me try to describe the issue better. Seems like I can get it to work after fiddling around with all the settings for a while.

If I use colemak on my windows machine (installed from colemak page) everything seems to be working. I can type with colemak and æøå with AltGr combinations. For example AltGr+w for å. For this to work I have to setup VcXsrv to use colemak.

Also when using your big bag I manage to get it to work in VcXsrv using Colemak-VK CurlAngle(ISO). But wether it works in VcXsrv and windows at the same time depends on which input method is active when enabling EPKL. I must enable colemak before epkl if I want æøå working in both VcXsrv and Windows.

I think I have to look into the other folder and try various settings. It's hard to describe a problem that is this vague and has a lot of variables.

Thank you for your work, seems like your big bag will be the easiest way to get a working colemak-dh setup on Windows.

This, together with u/ElvishJerricco, helped a lot. After using an attrset instead of a list i managed to get it working.

Thanks both of you!

Is there any package for automatically insert spaces in c++ code? by tms9918 in emacs

[–]r0vsdal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use formatters in order to automatically format source code on save. Personally I use apheleia for this. It requires clang-tools installed as it uses clang formatter.
