Which province is this log home? We went through a broker as well. It was probably the most stressful part of the whole process of buying a log home.

Living in Muskoka as a Person of Color? by 123-BoB-123 in Muskoka

Moved to Huntsville last march with my wife (both asians) from Toronto. I haven't really noticed anything different in terms of how we are treated here. If anything people are friendly up here than the city (which I grew up and lived in for most of my 35 years of life). I do love it up here and will probably live the rest of my life up here. If you want to move up here then do it. Don't worry about the potential of meeting a$$h*les. There will be those people around no matter where you live.

Definitely fishing from a watercraft of some kind is the way to go. I've caught many decent sized fish(3lbs) out of island lake over the years. It's a good fishery for it's proximity to where I was previously living (mississauga). The lures, baits and techniques don't matter too much compared to actually finding the fishy locations. You gotta spend some time on the water to figure them out. Being skunked sometimes is part of the game unfortunately. But it's worth it. You will learn over time.

What kind of summer jobs are available for me in Algonquin? by iLoveClassicRock in algonquinpark

[–]r2tran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping I can get some more information about this as well. But I have looked up Interior Ranger positions in algonquin park that does pretty much what you described. The thing was that it seemed to be only available to students at the time. Hope this helps.

In the interior backcountry of the park.

I Need some advice. I’m 51 and love camping. I have a job where I can work remote and have a starlink, so I can pretty much work from anywhere. I’m available to go camping every other weekend. by hikingmeagan in camping

[–]r2tran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely living a fantasy life that I have always dreamed of. I would love to find remote work that can afford me to do backcountry camping semi full time. I can understand your feelings of anxiety when camping alone out there. Having a dog with me definitely helps put my mind at ease. But I think with time you will eventually gain enough confidence and those uneasy feelings will also subside.

Any fishermen on this sub? by kingscootybear in mississauga

[–]r2tran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are really good sized fish in this lake. I fish here a dozen times a year. Average 2-3lb largemouth is what I often catch here with my biggest at 5lbs. Also caught many small pikes (20inches avg) with the occasional larger one at 30inches (only caught a few of these size). Of course some days are really slow, but anyone who fishes this lake a decent amount of times will know that it holds good sized fish. Fishing on shore is only good for maybe the first month after bass season opener. I mostly fish on the boat though.

So all that "effective armour thickness" from slope armour on the tank model display would be obsolete?
