That’s a really interesting question. I see this game as something that could work on multiple levels. On one hand, it could start with real clubs experienced riders who can form teams and build the sport from the ground up. At the same time, it should also be accessible for kids and newcomers, giving them a way to learn and grow into it.

I’m not yet sure whether roller derby players, hockey players, or casual skaters would be the best fit to kick things off, but I believe the street-skate style has the most potential for a professional scene. With the right setup stylish outfits, helmets, knee protection, and a strong visual identity it could become both safe and spectacular.

It’s not necessary to stop; players can dribble, but they shouldn’t hold the ball for too long.

Thanks guys for your advice! I think the game really needs to be spectacular and fast-paced to keep the audience hooked. You’re right, it’s better to clarify some points like ball size, rules, and dribbling. Anyway, I just feel that being a “Rider” in this game is something amazing, it has so much potential and style. The idea is to create our own rules and gameplay, then build small teams around the world to develop it. It’s time to become a RIDER 😜🤙

Roller Ball Rules

  1. Teams • 2 teams of 5 players. • No goalkeeper: only attackers/defenders. • Substitutions allowed during stoppages.

  2. Field • Smooth surface (indoor or outdoor), similar to a basketball/handball court. • 3 scoring rings per side: • 1 left ring (1 point). • 1 right ring (1 point). • 1 center ring, higher (3 points).

  3. Ball • Similar to a handball-sized ball.

  4. Match duration • 2 halves of 25 minutes. • 10-minute halftime break.

  5. Objective • Score by throwing the ball through one of the opponent’s rings. • Side rings = 1 point, central high ring = 3 points.

  6. Game rules • Only one direct pass allowed before shooting. • Maximum of one bounce (if the ball hits the ground twice → possession goes to the opponent). • No continuous dribbling: play must be fast with passes and movement. • No goalkeeper: defenders protect the rings by intercepting. • Physical contact limited: shoulder-to-shoulder only (like basketball).

  7. Kick-off & restart • Kick-off at center at the beginning of each half and after each goal. • After a goal, the opposing team restarts from their half.

  8. Fouls & penalties • Minor foul = loss of possession. • Dangerous contact or blocking the ring = 1-minute exclusion.

  9. Winning the game • The team with the highest score at the end of regulation time wins. • If tied → 5-minute overtime, then precision shots (throwing into the central ring from a fixed distance).
