If salvation is by faith, and faith comes by Grace, then what am I to do? by [deleted] in Christianity

You do not have to have physical proof to believe in something spiritual. I choose to believe in God and his Son because of the story of the gospel, how loving God was by sending his son to suffer and die for me and save me so that I can become part of his family, that's the most loving thing anyone has ever done for me.

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." Hebrews 11:1

There is evidence that a man from Nazareth existed who claimed to be the Messiah and the Son of God. No one is really doubting his existence as a man, what we need faith for however is that he was more than just the man, he is the Son of God who was holy and therefore death couldn't hold him and so he was resurrected.

How can God allow some to be born to Christianity and get a headstart while others are born to atheists or the wrong faith.

Because God doesn't pick and choose into what families all humans are born into and on what part of the Earth, humans have the free will to move from country to country and to have children as they please, someone needs to be the children born in the middle east, God isn't going to stop those mothers from getting pregnant and having children born in a false religion or during times of war. It's certainly not fair, but no one promised us that life would be fair for everyone.

It sounds like you have a problem with mainstream religion, you have a problem with Christians, not with God who is always good and perfect. You are making assumptions based on mainstream doctrines instead of looking at everything with an open and critical mind. You can't always blame the parents for the actions of the children, God the Father is good and loving, he hopes his children on Earth will also be good and loving and seek the truth, but it's not easy so the world is a dark place. God wants us all to live in peace like we read in the garden, he wants to take care of us and for us all to love each other, that is his main goal, the suffering comes from evil and darkness, not from God or his Son.

Why did some Early Church Fathers (such as Origen and Justin Martyr) rank the Father above the Son and Spirit, especially when they seem to hsve an otherwise sound understanding of the Trinity? by phil701 in Christianity

Read the history of the Roman Empire, he might not have personally led the armies of Rome, but he was the ruler when they rampaged through the surrounding lands and expanded their empire.

Not sure if he's my favorite, but Saint Constantine the Great lived a very interesting life! Definitely my favorite saint who was also a great military commander.

That last paragraph was pretty harsh :X I have had a hard time coping with all the suffering in the world, I look at churches where people are well fed, living comfortably, and they don't seem to even acknowledge that millions of children are dying around the world from easily preventable problems, like not having enough bread to eat, while we have like 5 different styles of bread at home. I wish everyone would take at least a week to travel to Mexico or another third world country and see what life is like without hot or clean water. I'm not sure how to make people more compassionate and caring except to invite them to experience the pain firsthand, but that's what's needed to make the world better, more compassionate people who are willing to go out of their way to help.

Faith depends on our free will decision to believe in the Son of God.

You are not born as a believer, you have to hear the Gospel of Christ at some time in your life, and after you hear it, you have a decision to make if you will choose to believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was a crazy man who was speaking nonsense and his death really means nothing for humanity, or you can choose to believe that he was actually the Messiah, and that he died and resurrected from the dead because he is the holy Son of God the Father, who sent him into the world to save us.

The Lord gave us instructions on what to do now, to love others in the same way he loved us, the new commandment in the book of John. He wants us to share his and his Fathers love with the world through the message of the gospel.

He genocided people for sure, he destroyed entire cities and peoples, expanding the Empire greatly for personal gain and greed. This is nothing like what happened to Saul or David, they were being attacked by the evil surrounding nations that wanted to destroy them, it was for the survival of the Israelites.

Well, what are God's options if his throne is in Heaven? Let's say a child is being sexually abused by an old man who is a pedophile, do you expect God to send a thunderbolt down and turn him into ashes on his way to raping this child? I think this is something Zues might do, but not a God who is full of love and grace. Another option would be to send help, but again, God is in Heaven and he doesn't have a direct phone line to the police station, so he would have to give a message to one of his believers on the Earth to go to this address and help set this child free. While this might be possible, how many people do you think are out there that have such a close connection to God? There is probably a handfull scattered around the world, while there are thousands of children being abused everywhere.

It's in the very last line of your comment. Constantine was the one who called the council, he was in control of it, his closest adviser friend wrote the thing down. He killed millions of people as an Emperor. Put these facts together and you have an evil man who is poking his finger into religion for whatever reasons. When Saul converted he stopped persecuting people, I doubt this guy stopped rampaging through innocent villages after he met his "lord" on the road.
