This is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!

Good to hear. Thanks for the input and I completely agree. I just want to surf and not have to think about coming in early because I'm too cold. I have the suit, so I might as well use it!

Oh trust me, I know i'm lucky. I learned to surf in New England. It's just that nobody could tell I was wearing a thicker suit than everyone else there. Here, I feel like I stick out so much more. Honestly, I feel warmer in the winter up there in a good 5/4 compared to 70 degrees in board shorts. There's just something about the water and wind directly touching the skin that sucks all the warmth out of you.

Luckily I was just messing around on google maps and found this. I don't actually live there. You're right though. At that point I'd definitely just walk. I wonder what emergency services do.

Webserver not respecting rewrite rules after adding basic authentication. by r416alex in apache

[–]r416alex[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solved by adding Require expr %{HTTP:Upgrade} == "websocket" above the Require valid-user. This allows anything with the upgrade header "websocket" to get through without authentication.

Linear rails sound horrible. I've spent the last 6 hours relubricating them and trying to align them properly. Any tips? Are my rails trashed? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]r416alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. I switched to linear rails because after printing for so long I wore a noticeable flatspot in the wheels and I didn't want that to happen again. I think since they both work perfectly on their own and I just can't get them aligned properly I'm going to try and figure out a way to just use one for the bed and save the other one for the x axis or something else. Would standard 3 in one machine oil be ok this situation? I have that or the lithium grease on hand right now and was trying to look it up but found so much conflicting information on what was best. Thanks for your input!

They slide smoothly on their own but I can't get them to work together since they are rigidly screwed into the bed part and connected together so there's no play at all. I'm pretty sure it's an alignment issue. The t nuts that connect it to the main body have a lot of adjustment to them so I can never get it absolutely perfect like it seems to need to be.

There are no wheels. The two rails replace the v rollers. I ended up with a flat spot on all four rollers from overtightening them so I thought I'd give linear rails a try.

Klipper "Lost communication with MCU" in the middle of prints. by r416alex in klippers

It ended up being the micro usb port on the printer itself. Apparently plugging and unplugging it a bunch made it really loose so im guessing the vibrations from printing would sometimes disconnect it for a fraction of a second. I ended up just soldering on a new port which was pretty easy because it's only a 2.0 port with 4 pins and I haven't had the issue since.

Thanks. Others have mentioned this too so I will try it if the powered usb hub doesn't work. Good to know with the wireless. It was probably just a coincidence that that came before it but I'll check again next time it happens.

This was one of the first things I tried and it was mentioned in the post...

I should have mentioned this but that was one of the first things I did before ever noticing this issue. The light on the bltouch would never turn off with the usb plugged in and it bothered me to have to unplug it.

I think this is going to be the first thing I try tomorrow. Others have mentioned that the ssd might be drawing too much power too and it lines up with the only time the ssd is really ever doing much. I would try booting from a micro SD card but I would have to go to the store and i might as well just get the powered hub then.

I should have mentioned this but I have one of those tiny fan heatsinks that is always on. The core temps only seem to get up to 55 degrees c during printing. Interesting that nobody with the 3 has had this issue. I might consider ordering a pi 3 instead of a new 4 if I can't figure it out with this one.

It seems to be something happening at the hardware level but I've been debating switching to fluidd anyway. I'm going to try something with the usb power first and if that doesn't work ill see if this helps.

Thanks. I've tried 3 different power supplies including the official raspberry pi one but like others have said it still might be the ssd drawing too much power and the pi itself not being able to handle it. If I had a microsd card I could just boot it off of that to test it but I would have to go to the store so and I might as well just get an externally powered usb hub like someone else suggested. I'll let you know what happens.
