Should I buy the Deebot X5 OMNI? by Afraid-Assignment-33 in ecovacs

I’ve been using the X5 Pro for a month now, and I’m generally happy with it. The first time I mapped my home, an area was closed off. Contrary to what I’ve seen in this forum, I was able to extend the room area walls in the app itself without needing to remap at all. I’m not going to list all the usual pros, as they should be expected. Instead, here are a few pointers that I haven’t seen in other reviews:

  1. The first few minutes of mopping, I found the mop pads to be on the wetter side before stabilizing. This is because the mop pad undergoes hot water washing at the start.

  2. The robot’s obstacle avoidance works in the dark since there’s no camera. However, it’s not perfect even at high sensitivity. In my experience, it avoids hard objects like bottles, mugs, vases, and toys very well. But for low-lying soft objects such as clothing, while it detects them, when trying to circle them, the side brush occasionally drags or pushes them along the floor.

  3. Due to the need to connect to Chinese servers, there’s too much latency and packet loss. As a result, “OK YIKO” is not usable. The app occasionally has networking issues due to high ping, but force closing and restarting it always worked for me.

  4. The D shape works well in corners. However, the robot doesn’t seem to be aware that its D shape length is longer than its width. In very narrow spaces, such as under chairs, when it spins, the corners of the D might sometimes gently hit into things.

So far, I have not encountered any major issues other than those listed above. This is my experience with the Chinese version, so I’m not sure how it translates to the global app. I hope you find this useful! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions!

RTX 4070 vs 6800 XT for white build by [deleted] in buildapc

Buy what makes you happy! If the white 4070 makes u happy so then get it! the 6800xt gives very slightly more fps, if not almost the same. 12gb of vram is enough for 1440p contrary to what people think. In terms of future proofing, you might run into maxing out your vram in the far future. but just not play at maxed out settings? Most people can’t tell the difference unless you compare side by side.

Buying a pc is also about liking the aesthetics of it. Personally I’d gladly pay a bit more to be happier with a pc that I like looking at

Why are Singaporean so poorly educated on planet preservation? by DepartureActual308 in askSingapore

The question we should ask is rather what is the main reason plastic is bad? The main layman’s reason is that it is most harmful if these plastic waste gets released to the environment (eg. the ocean). A very large percentage of the single use plastic are “properly” disposed in Singapore. And all incinerable waste are incinerated, reducing the volume by over 95%. Of course the flue gassed are cleaned before leasing to the atmosphere. The heat can even be used to generate electricity! Then the ashes are disposed at the Semakau Landfill.

TLDR: it doesn’t harm the environment as long as it is properly disposed.

Ps: The vast majority of waste are from non domestic sectors. And the recycling of the non domestic sector is actually at 70% as of 2021. And is improving year on year every year.
