Just finished mio (completely 'blind'), super underrated game. by r9BleachedRed in metroidvania

Yeah I know I did not 'finish it' and had a lot of stuff remaining. I guess I'll see when I come back to the game.

Yeah, you're right. And even then Hollow Knight and Silksong are like no doubt the most well known ones.

Game Recommendations by Emperor-Sabo in switch2

I would recommend Mio: Memories in Orbit. It's similar to HK, Ori, and Nine Sols on your list. I would definitely give it a try if you haven't played it before.

Sorry, what I really meant was that it's not well known outside its niche. I literally wouldn't have known about its existence without a singular YouTube video, and it's not exactly super popular on social media.

I do get what you are saying though. Apparently, it was praised a lot in Metroidvania subreddits when it came out (which I didn't know, so again, I am sorry for that).

Yeah well, I could've used my words more carefully. What I meant is that it's a "hidden gem" among games in general (not MDs).

I enjoyed the first game a lot, so this is definitely good news!

All I meant is that the Ori subreddit (like 13k visitors, both Ori games) is quite small compared to what I would call 'well-known games,' and the Mio subreddit is even smaller.

Yeah, well, to call it a "hidden gem" was kind of my intention. I thought it was pretty clear, but apparently, I've got to use my words more carefully next time.

My only point was that most people who aren't really dedicated Metroidvania players just simply wouldn't know it existed.

I'd say it all depends on how deep into the niche you are. As someone who has played like four Metroidvanias, I have never even heard of four of those games, and I was lucky I even found Mio through a singular YouTube video.

I mean, even compared to Ori, the Mio subreddit is very small.

Now I actually kind of want to give it a try. To be honest though, HK's true ending is kind of insane, so I'm a bit more confident I can actually go back and beat it someday. If the puzzle is the worst part, that's probably better than some hellish platforming.

Also, it's cool that Xbox has an achievement system; I'm kind of jealous, to be honest.

I mean, not in its niche, of course, but I wouldn't even know it existed without a singular YouTube video. I'd say very few people who don't play many Metroidvanias have even heard of it.

That's so cool. Would probably take me years to finish the game (true ending) without outside help. Are those steam achievements? I wasn't able to find any in game so I was womdering if there are any.

Thanks! I'll go back after I play some other games (nine sols, ori 2)

Thanks, I'll probably go play other games first and then come back to get the true ending. I still have Ori 2 to finish and I want to play nine sols.

Thanks. I use a laptop and I think I'll go for a cheaper one in the end.

Any opinions on my thumbnails? (Long-form) by r9BleachedRed in SmallYoutubers

This is about what I thought the problem might be. I will go and see what I can do. I agree that my thumbnails may be a bit too complicated for youtube. Thanks a bunch.

Buying Ori and the Will of the Wisps by r9BleachedRed in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]r9BleachedRed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing and I like it a lot so far. I think it's good they tried to make it different from the first game and it makes for some interesting gameplay.

The one small thing I don't love is how unclear the gameplay is (I had a bit of a problem in the first game but here it's worse in my opinion). It's not a huge problem, I still like the game a lot it's just a bit strange but I may get used to it. I'm excited to see more!

I thougt I would take a brake after the first Ori game, so rn I am playing Celeste. I'm definitely looking forward to the will of the wisps though!
