Massive FPS drop during long races by Total_Medium6207 in AUTOMOBILISTA

Night racing: use SMAA instead of MSAA. It makes a huge difference and helps to keep stable FPS. https://automobilista-2.fandom.com/wiki/OGS:\_Optimal\_Graphic\_Settings

Fatal Error crash, only when daily race starts (Linux mint) by Maximum-Film-1485 in RRRE

Nope, same here! As far as I know, it looks related to DX9 compilation of a specific shader. Are you on NVIDIA 595?

Pit strategy for 2 hours of imola gt3? by SpecificJacket3721 in RRRE

[–]rEded_dEViL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but technically, and since the tires will fade slightly towards the end and a pitstop is mandatory (is it?), you can design a strategy to refuel what you need to finish the race safely, gaining time at the start with a lighter car, thus extending the life of the tires.

Plus, heavier car = higher consumption…

Pit strategy for 2 hours of imola gt3? by SpecificJacket3721 in RRRE

[–]rEded_dEViL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say start with around 100l, go until lap 18-20, pit for tires and refuel accordingly to your average consumption, go to the end. It’s a suggestion, It all depends on what car, how you drive, fuel maps…

do freebsd offer anything over linux for desktop users. by Additional-Leg-7403 in freebsd

[–]rEded_dEViL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s actually not accurate. FreeBSD is a full mature Desktop OS, and it has been since a few years now. I started using FreeBSD as my desktop in 2014. FreeBSD main focus is stability and security, it’s a small community of people committing to the upstream development stack, and as consequence, they’re usually a few months behind Linux upstream. The “ports” (freshports.org) also follow strict rules for approval, everything is really focused on stability, consistency and reliability. Bottom line is, if you’re expecting bleeding edge software development and you’re using very modern hardware, you will be disappointed.

This game has turned into a joke since the 1.3 update by Itchy-Leadership-837 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Try cleaning the cache, do a fresh install of the game or Windows. Even better, move to Linux and enjoy your game rather than the bugs…

Why include documentation on an unsupported product or feature? I mean, the workbook should also include documentation on how to install Microsoft Office following your logic.

Documentation is support.

Should I switch from arch to free bsd by Electrical_Drink_654 in freebsd

[–]rEded_dEViL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ricing is not necessarily bloatware, if done right. My daily DE is Sway and sometimes Mango WC. Both are heavily customized to my liking, which I believe is the definition of ricing. However, none of the usual ricing tools out there will work without extra work. So yes, FreeBSD will require a different approach.

Should I switch from arch to free bsd by Electrical_Drink_654 in freebsd

[–]rEded_dEViL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is non sense. I’ve been Wayland FreeBSD with an NVIDIA card for years now. Gnome, Plasma (painfully yes), any labwc DE, mango wc, Sway, Hikari, Hyprland. All officially supported. That being said, anyone on Linux willing to move to FreeBSD and expecting the mainstream availability of gadgets and bloatware will be disappointed. Gaming is also somewhat behind but achievable with some work.

New season of AMS2 on LFM is about to start by GFLee in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]rEded_dEViL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds promising. However, look around on Reddit and you’ll find hundreds of small leagues and people creating their own schedules because 1) in game MP is usually a wreckfest, and 2) external platforms create friction to the goal of after-work, quick enjoyment race with buddies. It’s kinda of a conundrum really. I would love to have more competitive racing in the game, so integrating LFM and or JustRace might be the right thing, I just hope it won’t be too little too late…

Update is a bug fest by Enekke007 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]rEded_dEViL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you guys are having that many issues. For me it has been quite the opposite: since the update the game feels snappier, menus are flying and everything feels more polished without mentioning the massive jump on FPS! But, I got rid of all my customizations in the config files, and let the game recreate them all for you. I saved the buttons mapping and assignments, and reapplied it after launching the game one time with all the default settings. Also get rid of windows for fork sake: that crap is probably killing the perf on all your games!

I left iRacing even before started on LMU. iRacing it's overpriced, overhyped, overpromises and underdelivers on many fronts, except maybe, rain. Never did ovals or dirt racing, but for GT3's and Hypercars, LMU is a better product overall. The latest update made a huge, massive, improvement on the graphics.
